Bio Photo Due to email problems I have having difficulty making corrections at this time. I have been blocked out of my own account. This has been going on for over two months. Please forgive if I have not attended to your request. I'll catch us as soon as I figure out what has happened.

Friends, you are invited to visit the memorial page for our son
Nathan Peurifoy He died unexpectedly in October 2014 at age 26 from a diabetic coma. In six months I lost my mother and my son.
I am taking a leave of absence from Find a grave for awhile. I'll keep up with my edits, but corrections will just have to wait..
Thank you all for your prayers, friendship and care. It is appreciated.

The life of a person is more than the dash between two dates. It is my hope that the memorials which I create or manage can make the individuals life fuller, even if just linking to family members or adding a few tidbits of information. Researching and including other family information makes them more than graves, they are people. Suggestions are welcome but please submit them using the edit button at the upper right corner of each memorial.
Even when transcribing cemeteries I work hard to link other family members.
I live in the northwestern mountains of North Carolina and have work primarily in cemeteries there. My current focus is Carolina Memorial Park in Concord, North Carolina. There are 30,000 graves but only about 17,500+ listed. I've done more than 4,000 of those. Much of my family is buried there. I am also focusing on Salisbury National Cemetery Annex.

My family can be traced back 46 generations to County Leichester, England. The family is English/Norman. They came to England with William after the Battle of Hastings in 1066. The photo above is my ancestor, Sir Nicholas Purefoy, buried in The Church of St. Michael and all Angels in Fenny Drayton, Co. Leicestershire, England. The spelling of my name is the most rare of the three family groups: Purefoy, Purifoy and Peurifoy. The early Purefoys were in Jamestown, VA long before the Hugonaut movement.
On my paternal side I am interested in the Peurifoy, Purifoy, Purefoy, Scott and Suther families.
For my maternal side are Statons, Stiller's,and Moores (from Stanly Co, NC).
My wife is from the Byrd and Carr families of Duplin County, NC.
You are invited to visit the memorials of my grandmother Lillian Scott Peurifoy, my mother
Hazel Staton Peurifoy
and Father Robert Eugene Peurifoy.

Photos of graves are free to use. However, personal photos of individuals are copyrighted by this writer and can only be used on other sites by written request via email (not "public messages on my personal page) and acknowledgement of original owner of the photograph.

Thanks to all who help with my typo, mistakes and incorrect links. I could not accomplish this without your help.

Proud member of the Patriot Guard Riders.

Estelle Fussell
Thanks for the transfer. My wife spent quite a bit of time with Aunt Estelle in the kitchen. She too learned the art of those chocolate layer cakes and still makes them today just like aunt Estelle did.

James Southerland
Thank you for your edits. I added the inscription, but not the rank. The rank is noted in his inscription and I only add ranks if they were killed in action or if they were retired from the military. Although he was a Vietnam veteran, the military was only a few years of his life and his obituary lists his name as James Southerland with no reference to his rank, so his family obviously preferred to leave it off.

RE: John Dearing
Do you think Elijah M. Dearing, the father of John Nichols Dearing, is the son of Elijah F. Dearing and Nancy Margaret Burnes Dearing of Wilkes County, as most of the charts say? I am skeptical. Elijah F`s daughter Helen B. Henderson, wife of Joseph, in her will in 1849 names her father and three sisters and a brother, John B. Dearing. In 1820 Elijah F. shows two males 10-15 and in 1830 only one male that I assume is his son John Blake Dearing who never married.

RE: Roy & Elvin Bigham

Thank you for transferring my parents' records to me. I retired several years ago and have started going through photos and papers inherited from several different family members who died in 2011 or later. As part of this sifting, I am updating or adding Findagrave records.

I am assuming from your message that you have service or affiliation with the Marines. Blessings upon you and thank you for your service!
