The attached photo is from 411 N. Wilmington St. Raleigh NC, my mother's childhood home. A home which no longer exists along with many others in the surrounding area between Peace College and the State Capitol.|
I have a interest in Wake Co,researching the surnames Carver, Gill, John Davis d Aug 1829, Dunn, High, Horn, Moring,and Taylor(Nash Co) maternal line
Surnames in Rockingham and Caswell Co Alcorn AKA Alcon,Betts,Fitzgerald,Mills,Nunnally,Powell,Robertson,Stubblefield paternal line and so many more families with ties to these counties and beyond.
A resident of Somerset Co, NJ for 28 years.
I've posted many photos from the NC yearbook collection which are available on at line at ncgenweb.us/nc/bookshelf/yearbooks/ The vast majority of photos I have used are from 1930 and earlier yearbooks. After contacting several schools over the use of these photos and copyright law, I have been told as long as I'm not profiting from them and have listed the source, I'm in compliance with the law under the guideline of fair use. As of early 2012 and ancestry including yearbooks on their website, the issue of photos and copyright issues would appear to be a mute point. If a family member wishes me to remove any photo I have posted, just let me know.
I'm trying to add more records at Oakwood & Montlawn, however genealogy is my first love. I enjoy finding the elusive badly transcribed records that help document a family. I think the 1940 Wake census may be the worst yet. As of Jul 2014, I can identify 4700+ individuals in my extended tree that are buried at Oakwood, 2700+ at Montlawn with a total database of 72200+. Any memorial I add will based on a combination of death, census and Oakwood records. The memorial's and photo's I add are done so with much respect to that individual, their family and the history of North Carolina. I try to link memorials or add other details that may be useful to someone's research. The majority of the memorials will be part of my Wake County "Six Degrees of Separation" Tree. Visits to Oakwood in Aug 2012 & Aug 2013 to take photos.
My findagrave wish list would be a paper scroll symbol to signify there is a paper document which would leave the portrait symbol for actual pictures of people.
I do like to link and if I have not, it is just an oversight on my part. Thanks to all that help with my suggestions/requests and the new edit feature which makes that so much easier now.
My memorials are frequently revisited and updated especially since finding additional records at familysearch.org which ancestry does not have. These records are available to all researchers. Their records include death certificates 1931-1994 and a marriage collection thru 1979. May I respectfully suggest, anyone posting current deaths without a birthdate revisit your memorials and get the birthdate from the social security index which is also available on familysearch.org.
PLEASE refrain from death certficates on my memorials. It should not be necessary in most cases.
It has recently come to my attention the GPS location for individuals buried at Oakwood can be found in the recently updated database. Find your individual within the official Oakwood database and then click on Map. If you're requesting a photo for any of my memorial's at Oakwood let me know and I will update the location.
If you add an obituary clipping to any of my memorial's, please let me know. It may contain information I do not have.

Thank you for adding the link to her husband. He was ill when they married 5-30- 1949- he died two weeks later. She raised his six children. She was a great teacher and a good friend to my Aunt.

Good Morning Danna,
I wasn't able to pull up Joseph's death certificate using your method of just the date and place. But I did some more fiddling around and finally was able to find Joseph's certificate. I appreciate your helping me on this. Now I have one less thing to do in SLC next month.
I also have sent in a request to John Evans asking that he link Jean MacCarthy Allen to her parents, Joseph & Chloe MacCarthy. Thank you for mentioning this. Heretofore I did not know the names of any children. There probably were others. I need to look at the 1920 and 1930 Censuses.

A belated thank you for transferring Joseph to me so quickly. I have already made some changes to his memorial and my tombstone photo request for Joseph has already been fulfilled. When I am in SLC in September I will look at his death certificate. In my last message I mentioned that I had his death certificate when actually all I have seen so far is the data that was on the NC death index. Hopefully the certificate will give me the names of his parents.

I am wondering if you would please transfer to me your memorial #96078881 which is for Joseph Karl MacCarthy (yes, that is the correct spelling of his name!). I have quite a bit of new information on him and would like to update his memorial. I have copies of both his marriage and death certificates.
My membership number is: #48046936.

|sibe80||RE: Montlawn edits|
Thank you for reaching out. I have about 800 pictures left to upload until I finish Section 9. They will keep me busy this week. Then on to the next section!
I'll just plan on continuing to send you edits for discrepancies between the stone and memorial. Stones aren't always correct...so if you come across one where you feel your records are correct...you can decline it...it wont hurt my feelings :)

|Hallie Williams||The Royster Family|
Thank you so much for the information on the Roysters. They are my relatives and my middle name is Royster. They have done a lot to help with broadening the University of North Carolina's schools and technology. I hope to live up to the legacy my family has left for me. Thank you again! Go Heels!
|Karen Mickel Bennett||Thanks|
Thanks for all the additional info you are sending on "edits." I appreciate it very much!
|RTerry||RE: Barker family Montlawn|
Thanks a lot. The burial location of my great aunt & uncle has been one (of many) dangling items in my tree. I hoped someone would eventually contact me via find-a-grave. A few months ago I found the location of her older sister's grave in Virginia, so I have only one missing sibling of my Grandmother left to find (out of 8).
BTW, I am sure Uncle Gail is buried beside Aunt Lina, so he would be in Montlawn. I imagine they are in the family plot with the rest of his family.

|Steve Truelove||Birth date adjustment|
I happened upon your site and I must say I'm very impressed.
Thank you for your contributions. I noticed that the birth date is not accurate. The birth date for Margaret Poole is April 14.
Thank you for the correction.
