I was born in Baton Rouge. My ancestors, all the way to the great, great grandparents lived in Southern Mississippi. I love to study the history of my favorite state. It thrills me to carry the history by sharing photos. I was given a lot from family mentors. I'm really jazzed about Find A Grave where I can upload them.|
I studied at University of Houston & Portland State University, where I received my bachelor's in 1989.
I love to organize and make history available. I recently "self published" my great grandfather's autobiography and stories, compiling all the data I had collected. "Autobiography & Stories of Henry P Lewis." (I was happy to find it fairly easy to put up my research at www.CreateSpace.com, Amazon.com's publishing services, and I recommend this service. I still believe in making "hard copies" for the family and always prefer reading the physical book.)
When I'm not researching and archiving I'm reading historical fiction. I also spend time buying good books for my daughter, or having fun with my hubbie.
I look forward to frequenting local graveyards
and taking photos.

|Michael Conerly||RE: Jabez Newton Conerly article|
Certainly, it is actually a copy of the newspaper article so its "public domain", meaning you don't need my permission.
I may have a few more articles about Jabez I can send you if you would like. He was a deputy sheriff in 1880 and also a branch manager of a bank, The “New South” bank if my memory serves me correctly. When he was the Deputy Sheriff he had a prisoner taken from him and lynched! The newspaper article said he was “waylaid”!
I started a few years ago with my Conerly research and finished my book last fall. It was a genealogy book with stories about me and my memories plus stories about many of the persons in it, my family and ancestors. I found that it is a better read than just lots of dates and locations. Myself and many of my ancestors were law enforcement and/or in the military so I titled it "Behind The Badge And The Bayonet". I had it printed and gave as Christmas presents to my children and grandchildren last Christmas. Anyway, just drop me a line if I can be of further assistance.

More than welcome.
Are you a descendant of Elisha Thomas Haley?
|Christopher Beard||RE: Mary Rosan Davis's mother, Rosa Lewis Pigott|
Hi Martha. Yes, all indication is that the younger Mary Rosa was daughter of the older one and Elias Warren Pigott. Her death certificate should offer that proof. I do not know for sure, but word passed down was that the older Mary Rosa died of complication from the birth of her daughter, the younger Mary Rosa. Good luck!

Thank you for the lovely compliment, Martha. Regarding, Celia's father, I did not know his name. I "inherited" photos & letters related to the Alford's, and just wanted to share as much as possible. :)

Just a quick note... Lionel is not in Richardson, but Resthaven, Baton Rouge, LA. Check out memorial #125895788

My pleasure! I had second... and third thoughts about adding it. I thought it unique and hoped others would also. Besides, I hated to just trash it after using it in my online tree!
