W. E. Yates
I left an edit, but thought I'd give you an explanation. In working this family, I found the death ctf for Walter Edwin Yates, who died9/30/1928, but the ctf is dtd 10/1/1928. Walter Edwin Yates was the son of John Richard Yates & Margaret Elizabeth Jones. Thanks - Judy Stell

Alspaugh (Shirley and Sam)
HI there,
My great aunt/uncle are Sam (162199743)and Shirley (140003904) Alspaugh. I had created a memorial for Shirley when she first passed (145350836) and updated her burial info when her daughter corrected where she was laid to rest (Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News, Va).

Can you change your information for both memorials to reflect where they are?

Thank you!

RE: Sketches
They were mostly my Dad's (James Thomas) doing -- I think he had very fond memories of growing up out at Magruder, and I suspect it was a very close knit community. I was guessing that the house builder Sweany was Talitha's brother in law, but I had been puzzled by the change in last name -- thanks for posting the newspaper articles about him.

EW Maynard Sr had 4 schooners that I have records for --
Ship Date Seller Tons Price
Tam O’Shanter-1902 G S Hogge 11 650
RV Lane-1884 Hudgins&Hurst(1/8) 33 375 (1/8)
JT Marrow-1895 Barnett Jones 37 805
JCh Knight-1897 20 450

RE: Capt Maynard
What fun to read these! I wish I could ask my Dad about the fire. Surely it was something the family talked about endlessly. I have the deeds to the schooners used in the oyster packing business, if you would like copies.

Our artist gave me the scans of your photos Friday. I have posted a few to FindAGrave and to Ancestry, if that's OK. Will mail to you originals and disk tomorrow.

RE: Photos
photos came earlier this week - what a wonderful set of images. Our artist is scanning them and I will get them back to you asap along with a disc of the digital images. The card with EW Maynard Sr is the same image as I have on a tintype. I wonder if the tintype was used as a kind of negative to produce these cards (we have a lot of them from that period, many not identified, unfortunately). Barry

Lewis John Green 1834-1903est
I just joined Find-A-Grave. Been doing Ancestry searches for 15 years including all types of site visits in Gates County, NC. Looking for burial place of Lewis John Green and his wife Martha. Found most of his brothers but would also like to find them as they are great-grand parents.

RE: Photos
Hi - I'm beginning to feel a little swamped by the family tree, too. The problem is that it is a moving goal post. Great if you could send picture - use my campus address: J. Barry Maynard, Dept of Geology, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati OH 45221-0013.
