Devastated Land Owner in NEMO.
RE: Name
Well, we learned a couple of years ago that ATXI (Ameren Transmission of Illinois) planned to construct a high voltage transmission through northeast Missouri. At first there were two routes then they narrowed it down to one, directly through our farm where we keep our cow herd most of the year. We have gotten together with other landowners who will also be affected by this project, hired a lawyer, but so far the only thing stopping it is that they need permission from the county commissioners (it's a state law) in all five of the Missouri counties that this line is suppose to go through. The county commissioners of all five counties have been opposed to it so far. With the election in November that might change. If Ameren is allowed to build this transmission line (also called the Mark Twain Transmission Project) we will have to vacate our land and they may even drain our pond (we use to water our livestock) that is directly in the path of this project! We positively are against Ameren doing this and we hope we can stop it from going through our land! It seems landowners have no rights when it comes to utility companies using their land and that isn't right in my opinion. My husband bought this land almost 50 years ago and has farmed it all of his life. He didn't buy it for someone else to use to make money off of it. This is why I changed my contributor name.
