Bio Photo My wife and I have been married for the past 30 years. Both Shirley and I are retired, live in Santa Maria, CA in the beautiful and temperate Central Coast area, and we collect antique glassware from the early 1900's. I became aware of Find A Grave and wanted to volunteer. I appreciate how important it is to have a gravestone picture to help complete the story of your ancestors. I want to make that happen for many other people. I've also rediscovered that I like photography.
If you want me to transfer a memorial to you, just be related to that person, and DON'T FORGET TO USE THE EDIT BUTTON, that's all. If I'm related, too, I may keep them. I'm not going to get uptight about transferring. Happy Volunteering.

RE: 6 photos Milburns and Boyds
Thank you - I really enjoy this work. After I retired, it has given me a way to give back. I am very involved with the local heritage group - I conduct tours in Old Jonesborough Cemetery, have lead the restoration project there, as well as other burial grounds in the area. We strive hard to educate and preserve these sacred grounds. It also is a great way to learn about times past. Perhaps you are already familiar with it, but there's an area near here called Milburnton, founded by Milburns. Enjoy your research journey, as well. Gordon

RE: william Poorman
I would love to manage William Poorman's memorial. Obviously, I am a family member and I am pretty sure I know who wrote "Po Po and Granny" in the cement under their markers! Glad she did it, by the way! Thanks again.

RE: 6 photos Milburns and Boyds
Happy to help - I usually don't work that area, but it was a beautiful fall morning here, so I went for a ride. By 2:00 pm it was pouring rain - LOL. I actually have the grave locations, so it was easy. I am a member of the survey team here in Washington County - we are almost complete with surveying about 500 burial grounds. Gordon

Steve, there are no gates at this burial ground. There are some view photos already. I am adding an additional one to Martha Milburn's memorial, plus one of the old meeting house. Gordon

RE: Henthorn Poorman
Thanks for the picture. I think I have messed this up! William Poorman was Mary Ruth Siler's second husband. I tried to get him in there as the second but his name ended up over the name of Pete Henthorn, her first husband. Bill and Ruth Poorman had no children but Bill was a step-father and step-grandfather to Ruth's kids and grandkids. Anyway, I am not sure how to fix this. The Find A Grave Software won't seem to let me. Please let me know if you have a fix! Thanks.

Ruel Golden
Steve -
I forgot to mention that even though you didn't request a photo for Ruel Golden, he was near to Leo so we went ahead and took a pic of his gravestone. I checked his memorial and added the photo since the memorial manager has given permission.

There was another marker in between those two that was the mother I believe and we took a pic of that, but I noticed someone else had already added that photo to her page, so she's covered.

The majority of the gravestones at Memory Gardens Amarillo are set flush with the ground, so we sometimes have to pull a little grass away to see the marker.

I think if I do this again, I will be prepared with some clippers and maybe a little dust brush for the dirt clods. Ha

Even though I don't get to do a lot of walking anymore like I used to due to some health issues, this was kind of a fun "field trip" because we took pics of family gravestones and another person's request. So, thanks for the opportunity.
