Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been working on my family tree for over 30 years and it is still a work in progress. I am easily excited when I can break through a stone wall of information. The information is out there now, obtainable through the internet, which when used as a tool, is a good thing.

I was born a Tate and I married a Barker. My Tate hertitage comes from Virginia through North Carolina to Elbert County, Georgia, to settle in Tallapoosa/Coosa County, Alabama. My mother was a McNeely from Atlanta. I am also part of the Futch (Brunswick, GA) and Yarbray/Treadwell (Whitfield/Murray Counties, GA) famiy. It seems I learn something new every day.

My husband is a Barker from the Sequatchie Valley, Tennessee, mostly in Sequatchie County and there are a lot of branches to the Barker Family Tree. He has always lived in Sequatchie County, and before moving here I lived in FL, AL, and CA. I have lived in Dunlap, Tennessee, since 1974.

I have always been facinated with cemeteries and the craftsmanship of the old tombstones. So this is right up my alley.

I am very happy to assist anyone with information/photos for their family tree.

William Rogers' Descendant
William Rogers is my 4th great-grandfather. The present day stone is NOT the original. It was replaced when the church decided to clean up the cemetery back in the 1950's. The original stone had dates--(died 1849). Peacock stated in her book that she had seen the original stone before it was removed. (This is proved correct as Patience is listed as a Methodist widow on the 1850 census.)

Although Patience (unknown) was buried next to William under an old slab tombstone, they apparently did not have the money to replace both.

William is mentioned by his nephew, William Hurd Rogers, in the pages from one of his journals. He commented in several places about William being a founder of Sunday Schools and churches in the Sequatchie Valley where he lived. (Bledsoe, Marion, and Sequatchie Counties, TN)

RE: Flora Futch
I did not see any nearby but it is a good-sized cemetery. When I am out that way in the next few weeks, I willl stop by and ask if you like. The lady who manages it is very nice.

RE: Flora Futch
Glad I could help. I had never been to that cemetery before so it was well worth the trip.
