I knew your Aunt & her family at Mt Olive Baptist Church. My nephew was her pastor.

RE: William Mathews
Yes I'm Raymond's wife. I sent you two emails earlier today to your colburnkathy@yahoo.com email account but didn't hear back. Have you changed your email address?

Go ahead and make the cemetery correction to your memorial (Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira, Chemung, New York). Once you have it corrected, I will post the pictures. Then we can worry about getting the other one removed later.

William is burried in plot #1104 and his tombstone reads Wm. Matthews, 1 Fla. Res., CSA

Photo for William Mathews
Kathy, found the correct Woodlawn Cemetery listing for our William but someone has posted a photo of the wrong headstone.

Haven't been on here long enough to know how to get this corrected. Any ideas?

William Henry Mathews
From: Godwin's Campbellton Calvary, Pages 126-128: "Mathews, William. Wounded during battle, Mathews was taken prisoner and confined at New Oleans, Ship Island and Elmira. He died at Elmira on December 24, 1864 and was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery."

This Woodlawn Cemetery is located in Elmira, Chemung County, New York.

I have the particulars and photos packed away. I will pull them out in a day or two and post them for you.
