So Many Ancestors....So Little Time..|
I was born in N.C. a long time ago and have lived in VA. for quite some time.
I enjoy researching civil war soldiers and their families and live in the Heart of the Confederacy.
I enjoy painting with acrylics, especially Old Homeplaces..Beach Scenes..Old Depots, any OLD buildings and such!
I have been Following the Periwinkle in Henry County, VA. and surrounding areas for over 25 years and have enjoyed every minute. :O)
There are many soldiers in my virtual Confederate Cemetery here on Findagrave.
If I can help you with anything, please feel free to ask me.
If you want me to transfer a memorial Please Include Your Findagrave # and go to Edit and ask me there.
I want to thank all the people that have helped me with my research over the years.
Two are Laura Rust and Eugene Landreth who helped my Mom and I when we first started our quest in the 1980s.
The "stories" are what make our ancestors on findagrave come alive once more.
To Forget Ones Ancestors Is To Be A Brook Without A Source, A Tree Without A Root.....
YOUR TOMBSTONE STANDS AMONG THE REST
NEGLECTED AND ALONE
THE NAME AND DATE HAVE WORN OFF
THE WEATHERED MARBLE STONE
IT REACHES OUT TO ALL WHO CARE.
IT'S NOW TOO LATE TO MOURN
YOU DID NOT KNOW THAT I'D EXIST
YOU DIED....AND I WAS BORN
YET EACH OF US ARE CELLS OF YOU
IN FLESH, IN BLOOD, IN BONE.
OUR HEARTS CONTRACT AND BEAT A PULSE
ENTIRELY NOT OUR OWN
DEAR ANCESTOR, THE PLACE YOU FILLED
SOME HUNDRED YEARS AGO
SPREADS OUT AMONG THE ONES YOU LEFT
WHO WOULD HAVE LOVED YOU SO
I WONDER HOW YOU LIVED AND LOVED.
I WONDER IF YOU KNEW
THAT SOMEDAY I WOULD FIND THIS PLACE
AND COME TO VISIT YOU.....

Find A Grave gives us an "Unknown" choice for burials or cremations, etc. and if it's a known fact that these people are dead, and they will most likely never be officially linked to any particular burial place, they also have a right to be remembered and to be linked to their other family members.
I will gladly link those who have an unknown status.
That can easily be changed if they are proved to be in any particular place.
They were somebody too, and deserve to be remembered.
If you send me a request and I do not address it within a few days, please re-send!
If you re-send and still get no response, go ahead and list my memorial on here, because I'm probably dead. :)

Dee, I see that you have contributed to many Draper gravesites. My father's grandfather was William Bead, ggf Thomas D.A., s/o Rev Thomas D.,
I am looking for a strong connection between these two and William Bead. Having a Difficult time locating a census or any other record.
Can you help me?

|Glenda Emerson||Re:Martin Oliver James|
I have recently been on Ancestry researching my James side of the family and have discovered that Martin was my hg-grandfather. His first wife I am having trouble finding any info on her or a burial place. I would like to have the management of Martins-memorial #28373495 and also his second wife Lucinda Flinn James-memorial #28373499. I have more information, especially on Martin that I can add to his memorial.
Thank you for considering the transfer, and also to thank you for all the good work you're doing here on Find A Grave. It has been a big help in my research!

Hi, I am doing research on my wood family of Bedford county and came across your addition of my wood family burial place in the Wood Family Cemetery in Bedford County. Could you please share with me the location of this cemetery? I would really appreciate your help. Thanks so much. Cylvia Whiteside
|Stanley Baker||Bray Memorials|
I just want to thank you for all your Find A Grave memorials for the Bray's. You supported much of your information with Will's and family history. My ancestors were also Bray's in North Carolina. Your research has answered lots of my genealogy questions and got me over some brick walls.
|Alma Smith||George D Andrews #25573161|
I noted that you have a photo request for this gentleman. I did a survey of that cemetery several years ago and he did not have an identifiable marker there.
The Knightdale Cemetery is the original Knightdale Baptist Church Cemetery. There is a newer cemetery for the Church but too new for Mr. Andrews to be buried there. Jennifer Mishoe surveyed that cemetery in 2013.
I note the death certificate says burial in Raleigh and that is about 10 to 12 miles away but could have had a Raleigh mailing address in 1914.
There were some "Andrews" that were buried off Hodge Road near Knightdale and I have heard they were moved to another cemetery due to development but I do not know which cemetery or if he was related.
Sorry I cannot be of more help but thought I would pass along what I know.
Thanks for your contributions.
