Bio and Links
Bio Photo Arriving in Virginia from Ireland and England between the mid-1600's and early 1700's, our ancestors gradually migrated south through the Carolinas and Georgia and west through [West] Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee. By the early 1800's they had entered Alabama, settling in areas that became Bibb, Shelby, Chilton, and Coosa Counties. Though individual members continued the western migration to Mississippi, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri and other destinations, future generations largely remained in central Alabama and are still there today. Primary focus of research includes the MAHAN, GILES, WILLIS, FORD, ROBINSON/ROBERTSON families and numerous related surnames (Klinner, Scott, Shankle, Goodgame, Davis, Williams, Sammons, Crowson, Sledge, and others).

I have been interested in genealogy for about 25 years and have invested considerable time and energy in developing my family tree, available as a public tree (#5751580) on, entitled "My Alabama Roots". In the last year I have turned my attention to the Find-a-Grave project to document the grave sites of family members.

When possible, I will fulfill photo requests and will transfer memorials that I manage if the individual is not related to our family lines.

Mordecai Robinson
Just a few observations about the entry for Mordecai. We find him and Eunice in 1850 Talledega Co, AL, 1860 Shelby Co, AL and 1870 Baker Co, Al and Eunice is pretty consistent in reporting being born around 1811/1812 Georgia. She does not match this Nicie Vardemer cousin.

In 1850 Talledega is the home of John Robinson born 1787 South Carolina who clearly is old enough to be Mordecai's father. He remarried in June 1821 to Selah Pike who is in the 1850 census with him. His new children being born first in Georgia then in Alabama since 1837 as Mordecai's were since 1833 indicating they migrated together.

Further, John Robinson lived in 1830 in Fayette Co, GA. A Modica Robinson married on June 30, 1830 in Fayette GA a Unice Robinson.

RE: Tissia Willis Smith
My cousin, who is the granddaughter of Leona Willis Smith, told us that her first name is Tissia. I don't have any documentation of that other than my cousin's mother, Leona's daughter, said that was her name. She was called Leona, and had a nickname of "Loney". I have seen trees online that have the name as Tussia too.

RE: Laura Harrington
My husband's family (the Rasberrys) or Rasburys depending on how far you go back were related to the Rasberry family in Alabama.
