Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born and raised in Atlanta, but have lived most of my adulthood in Charlotte, North Carolina. Coincidentally I ended up right where my roots are on my father's side of the family. Genealogy is my passion and I never met a cemetery I didn't like. I'm also into historic preservation, both of buildings and the lives of people no longer with us.

As the daughter of a general and great-granddaughter of 3 Confederate veterans, I like to note military records of veterans on their findagrave memorials.

I welcome corrections/additions, but will no longer link to a "burial unknown" person. I have found this leads to duplicates.

FAMILIES ON MY FATHER'S SIDE: Irwin, DeWeese, Blackwelder, Babcock, Taylor, Wilbon.

FAMILIES ON MY MOTHER'S SIDE: Bryan, Battle, Pope, Atkinson, Yarbrough, Chappell.

fingers think faster than me.

Contributor Peggy Williams Hayes has posted a picture of her headstone on Ancestry. I sent a message to her and asked her if she would add it Roxie's site.

Greenlawn Memorial Cem

In this cemetery did you run across the graves of:

Ruth M Daugherty b: 1909 d: 1985
Roy Franklin Daugherty: b: 1906 d: 1991

Do you have pictures of their headstones if you did? I created sites for them at:

Ruth: 171239930
Roy: 171240200

Ruth's parents are buried in Fairview.

Roy's parents are buried there in Greenlawn.

Charles Leroy Daugherty: 81226321
Roxanna Elizabeth Weddington: 81226503

There is a picture of the headstone for Charles but not for Roxanna.

If you do havetheir pictures would you please add them to their sites?

Thank you so much again for all your hard work. You are a blessing.

Thank you Susan for your response. I have learned through Find A Grave that political correctness, as it were, is paramount. I am glad you were able to update more on the memorial though. It is fascinating that sooner or later a memorial is going to cross paths with another in some fashion. Take care and Be Blessed Always. Robert

Rufus Richard Worsham
While his first wife was Rebecca C Beard Washam, he was not her first husband.

Rebecca Caldwell married Joseph R Beard (in 1859) who was killed in the Civil War (in 1863). Joseph R Beard was the father of Edward/Edwin Beard and Frances "Fannie" Brown Beard.

Thomas Alexander Washam was the only child of Rufus R Washam and Rebecca. After Rebecca's death, Rufus married Jane and they raised Joseph and Rebecca's children. Edward/Edwin Beard and Frances "Fannie" Brown Beard were less than 4 years old when their biological father died.

Frances "Fannie" Brown Beard married John Andrew Cashion and is buried in Wilkesboro, North Carolina.

Joseph R Beard is buried in a National Cemetery in Virginia. Date of death @ 15 Aug 1863.

Headstone picture
Hi Susan, my name is Norma Jean Alexander Franssen. I go by Norma Franssen. I was trying to find a picture of my brothers headstone and there's not one. Hoping that you could help with getting one. He is at Sunset Memory Gardens. I saw that you were the one who did my parent's picture. His name is Lafayette Morrison Alexander Jr. His parents preceded him in death are Lafayette Sr. and Julia Viola Gladden Alexander. He had no children. All of his siblings are still living. I can give you their names if you would like to list them. You can email me at Thank you, Norma Franssen

Landon Walker daughter obit
Susan: This obit in the local paper caught my eye. When I saw she was the daughter of a Walker from North Carolina, I had to check findagrave & lo & behold, her father is 1 of your posts. I assume you want to know. ALLEN WALKER
