I am southern born and bred. Born in Birmingham, Alabama and grew up in Columbus, Georgia. I am an Army brat. I retired in Oct 1998 from the US Army, after 26 years. I lived in Charlotte, North Carolina for a few years but returned to the area of my roots in May 2003, to Phenix City, Alabama.|
I have always been interested in history, especially family history. My family lines are Blow, Laird, Driver, Highsaw/Hisaw/Hysaw, Staggs, Johnson, Newman, McNutt, Alvis, Blankenship, Harris, Thrasher, Nesbitt, Elam, Tucker, Nash and on my ex-wife's side Harper, Wache, Schramm, Masseron, Gansberg, Klunder, Appelberg & Loutzenheiser.
I enjoy walking cemeteries, especially old church or community cemeteries, checking the dates on the headstones, trying to imagine what the times were like for them.
Some of my memorials are of my kinfolk, but if I have a memorial that is not directly related or not related to me, I will gladly consider transferring it to a relative.
I am willing to look-up local obituaries and photographing headstones and graves in the local area (within 25 miles). All headstone photos that I post to Find-A-Grave may be used for posting to family trees. All I ask is that you give proper credit for the photo and it is not use for financial gain.
Please use the "Edit" tab to request a memorial transfer or to add updates and/or corrections to the memorials.

Thank you so much for the picture.

Parents Delilah ( you have Abner as her father) I found an 1850 Census from Mississippi where Abner and Delilah Files are living with a little girl named Sarah D Jones ( I believe this to be Eliza's daughter Sarah Delilah Jones and she is listed as having been born in Alabama.

Thanks so much for posting the photo of my Aunt Myron. She and Uncle AJ were very much a part of my young life. She and my mother were sisters, and were very close up until their deaths. I do appreciate having this piece of history.
