I grew up in Minnesota. I spent almost 11 years in the Navy then returned to Minnesota. After 17 years there, I left the state for work in 1998 and moved to Long Beach, Boston, West Virginia and Smyrna, GA. I promised my wife I'd put her back when where|
I found her, so in 2014 we moved to Scarborough, Maine.
I began genealogy as a hobby a years ago (probably in th 1970s after the Roots mini series). My primary research areas include Darling (Michigan), Huber (Switzerland), Howell & Hobbs (North Carolina), Brown (Minnesota/Michigan), and Mannin(g) (Kentucky).
My wife says she married Santa.
Love your family, honor your ancestors, and enjoy life.

Hello there. Today, I fulfilled a request in the Blackwell family cemetery in Cobb County. I was just wondering why there were survey markers all over it and how I can find the report of the survey...I came across your blog and figured you could point me in the right direction.
You are very welcome.
I think I have been able to decipher these stones for you by blowing them up in Photoshop and working with the contrast and shadows.
June 7, 1887
7 Yrs. 7 Ms 6 D
Wife of Chester Parsons
Sept. 12, 1874
Aged XX Yrs 7 Ms X
(It looks like 69 Yrs ... I can't see anything for the days, the stone is too worn. This 69 years does match up with her death certificate from the State of Michigan, though. She would have been born about February 1805 if she was 69 years and 7 months. Since it looks like they probably listed some days, she was most likely born between Feb 1 and 12).
Hope this helps.

I saw your request for higher quality photos of the headstones for the Parsons and Almira Sanford. All of these stones, especially the Parsons, are fairly worn.
I was able to blow up the one for Almira Sanford and get the transcription. It reads:
July 7, 1845
As for the Parsons, I am not sure if a better photo can be had. Have you contacted Old Bones? He might have higher-resolution photos that he could forward to you. Find-A-Grave only allows us to download photos that are 3 MB or less. I always have to size my smaller than the original before I download, but I usually keep the higher resolution one. I would send a note to Old Bones.
Hope this helps!
