Bio and Links
Bio Photo I grew up in Minnesota. I spent almost 11 years in the Navy then returned to Minnesota. After 17 years there, I left the state for work in 1998 and moved to Long Beach, Boston, West Virginia and Smyrna, GA. I promised my wife I'd put her back when where
I found her, so in 2014 we moved to Scarborough, Maine.

I began genealogy as a hobby years ago (probably in the 1970s after the Roots mini series). My primary research areas include Darling (Michigan), Huber (Switzerland), Howell & Hobbs (North Carolina), Brown (Minnesota/Michigan), and Mannin(g) (Kentucky).

My wife says she married Santa.

Love your family, honor your ancestors, and enjoy life.

Hello to you Don,
I just wanted to let you know I was out at Van Cortlandtville Cemetery today and realized your 5th Great Grand Father had quite the history fighting for our country and is also memorialized in a wonderful memorial along with other soldiers and officers of his day. I would like to share those photos with you as well. Please send me your e mail so I may send to you directly. Mine is
All the best,

Roger Pettus
I have found and photographed Roger's grave. The death date has not been added. Since the spouse is also deceased, the date may or may not get added. I will check back periodically to see if it has been added.

You are very welcome Don. I was very happy to find it perfectly intact. Very rare at that age. I did 😊 take a photo of your 5x great grandmothers grave as well. It sits to the right of his. I will post it tomorrow.

Blackwell Family Cemetery
Hello there. Today, I fulfilled a request in the Blackwell family cemetery in Cobb County. I was just wondering why there were survey markers all over it and how I can find the report of the survey...I came across your blog and figured you could point me in the right direction.
