 | Israel Smith Israel Smith President Israel Smith lived during a time when few outside of Utah would have seen a difference between RLDS and LDS. I am sorry now that I used "Mormon" with the RLDS leaders, nevertheless, technically as it may had seemed incorrect some such as journalists, authors and others chose not to separate the two organizations. You are not the only one that has corrected me and while it matters little to me I find it interesting. By changing their name to the Community of Christ the RLDS noted (or hoped) that it would help further define the differences. HOWEVER, as I noted in another response even the RLDS in times past used the term "Mormon." I am reminded of a photo of RLDS Apostle Gomer T. Griffith standing by a sign inviting people to the "Mormon" meeting he was speaking at which was held in a Canadian RLDS building. He and other members of the Quorum called themselves Mormons. Even Herald House in the early RLDS days used "Mormon" in relating to the RLDS Church. One RLDS Apostle Richard C. Evans (Not LDS Richard L.) in 1920 wrote a book titled, "Forty Years in the Mormon Church". He refers to his church, RLDS as the Mormon church throughout the book. But again it seems it was poor judgment on my part to use the historical term, "Mormon." | | | Carl W. McBrayer
 | Israel Smith I never stated that he was the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (check bio). At time of his Presidency it was still common for the members of the RLDS Church (now Community of Christ) to use the phrase, Latter Day Saints and even Mormon. Bio was taken from RLDA source. I'm LDS and I assure you I know who and who was not President of LDS Church... It's common for me to use the phraseology of the time. Thanks for the note. | | | Wes & Debi Grossnickle
 | RE: Simon Webb This is the only picture that I have, as you can see the headstone has fallen to the ground and sank into it. No, I'm not related. I found that most of the cemetery was missing and I live about 10 miles away. I do cemetery photos as a days outing and I'm working in my area to make sure that there is available records because there are many headstones around here that date back 100 years or more. | | | A Marine's Daughter
 | RE: LDS flowers left Thanks for your kind words. I try to leave notes for the prophets and other special people. Although, it is disheartening that some people have put negative comments so that the administrators have seen fit to close down that part of some of the memorials like for Brigham Young and Joseph Smith. | | |
