Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was a senior at Clemson (circa 2007) when I randomly created an Ancestry.com account. That's when I discovered that although a few names did come to me, for the most part I didn't know the names of my own great-grandparents. Especially mom's side. The great-aunts and uncles were also a total loss. (At the time trees for more recent generations were not turning up on Ancestry.com or internet searches). Fast forward about 5 years and I've discovered so much and learn more every day. I'm also finding that investigating a random tangent often pays off later when you least expect it!

Using this site as part of my research of my ancestors, specifically my direct line.

With very few exceptions all parts of my family seem to have lived in South Carolina for a VERY long time. (There are of course a few NC and GA sprinkled in).

I hope to meet some distant relatives!

Above all things I love old family photos. It is my sincerest hope that as long-separated family branches are reunited, treasured family photos can be shared with all descendants.

Missing Memorials
Does anyone know why Peka deleted all the memorials he added? With that went all the photos, family links etc.for all these memorials Just don't understand how anyone could do this. I have been working on our family memorials and had just completed all the family links etc.
I contacted findagrave and got a response back from Findagrave(Ancestory.com Support) saying that they had someone looking at recovering but it would take several week to sort things out. This was on 11/19.
Is Findagrave part of Ancestory.com?

RE: Peka
Sad to say but not glitch or accident. Just hope Find A Grave can get everything back and soon.

RE: Peka
He tried to delete them all. Find A Grave is working on getting them restored. Not sure how long it will take

RE: Peka
I wish I knew. I see you list Crockett as an ancestor. My Crockett family is at Old Waxhaw in Lancaster County.

Wilhelm
Suzanne, I am curious about the family tree you found on the Wilhelm family at Habitat in Salisbury. Do you know who wrote it? Were there any photos with it? A bible? Dixie Wilhelm Jordan was my aunt's mother. I am related by marriage, and there is one surviving granddaughter of that family. Thanks! Janis - janlynmo@gmail.com

RE: Edna Levica Harris
No, I haven't made a memorial page because this is new to me. Other than using findagrave for hints and sources, I haven't really explored all the options. I guess I will start with her. Thanks.

Our common ancestors
Margaret Rawls ( my 2nd cousin) married George Mehaffey in your line. I know of three of their children - Raymond, Sarah and an unknown daughter. If there are more afterward, I am not aware. I alson live in NC - Mount Airy. If we are somewhat related I am always happy to meet distant relations, especially after learning about ancestors..

regards, Ed Whitehead

RE: Edna Levica Harris
Thanks. And, much later, after I sent the message I found Annita J Harris the missing daughter of Jesse Thomas (Johnston) Harris and Lula Crockett Potts. It struck me that the J could stand for Jessie and found a newspaper article announcing the marriage (Fort Mill) for a Jessie Anita Harris and Dr Arthur M Buchanan which led to her obituary (Charlotte, NC) which names her sisters and deceased parents as Mr and Mrs Thomas Harris. So Jesse TJ Harris must have moved from Lancaster County to Fort Mill and started going by Thomas. I haven't found him or Lula (graves or obituaries) but will keep looking.

Edna Levica Harris
Suzanne, I approach this communication with great respect for your genealogy knowledge and abilities. I have been researching my family for less than a year. Through your work on FindAGrave, you have helped me with so many of my ancestors. However, I believe you have one of the burials mis-identified – Edna Levica Harris; Find A Grave Memorial# 102180689. You have her buried in Milledgeville, Baldwin County, Georgia in Memory Hill Cemetery as Edna Harris Woods. I have been unable to find any links between Edna L Harris and any of the Woods in Baldwin County.

I have been able to find links to Edna Levica Harris and a Leonard E Wood; and, that includes a wedding announcement in local papers that list Edna as being the child of James Pinckney and Ida Potts Harris and her engagement and wedding to Leonard E Wood of Sharpsburg, GA. She has also applied for a delayed birth certificate and shows her address as being in Sharpsburg, GA. With that I found another entry - created by Linda Abbott with the record added on Aug 10, 2005 - Find A Grave Memorial# 11514237 that is in Sharpsburg, Coweta County, Georgia in the Sharpsburg Baptist Church Cemetery. This Edna Harris Wood is in the same cemetery with Leonard E Wood. I have put in a photo request for this burial with the note asking for its position in relation to Leonard E Wood’s grave.

I believe you are also on Ancestry.com and would like to give you my profile page for Edna - http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/14919670/person/28081143666. If you are not, please let me know the best way to get the information I have to you. If you see any errors, please let me know. Kathleen Heath (I am descended through James Pinckney Harris’ brother William Franklin Harris, both married to Potts sisters.

Eileen Pace gravestone
I have just posted the photo of Eileen Pace's gravestone on her Find-a-Grave memorial page. The current photo is much clearer than the one that I posted to her husband's grave because of the weather conditions, I assume.
