Hi there, |
I live in Mississippi and have been researching my family history off and on for about 10 years now. I love uncovering new ancestors and finding new cousins. Cemeteries have fascinated me since I was a little girl so I'm glad my daughter-in-law told me about this site. I've spent a lot of time in local cemeteries copying tombstones and will try to load them all on here as time allows.
Surnames I am researching are: Schmidt/Smith, Sartin, Townsend, Wilson, Mason, Rutland, May, Farley, Barnes, Brister, Owens, Magee, Ingram, Williams, Boyanton, Jordan, Bridges, Galbreth, Carouth, Crosby, Walker, Jones, Allgood, Case, Stewart, Hunt, and four to five more Smith lines. I'll be more than happy to share and compare any information I have.
Please let me know if I have any mistakes that need to be corrected.

My father's siblings are full blooded same parents that are listed.
Seems there is miscommunication as they are marked ** meaning half siblings.
Please make the corrections that are necessary to removed the ** by his siblings names.

|John Andrew Meyer||Jackson family|
I just looked at the Jackson family in Mississippi. I want you to know that I did not know when I did the research that I was related to the Jackson. An early researcher thought my great great grandmother was Elizabeth Davis, She was wrong and it took me year to find out that she was the daughter of George Jackson and Elizabeth Russell. My 2x great grandmother Elizabeth Jackson was married first to Henry L. Stevens. Steven Jackson the brother of George Jackson was married to Mahala Carpenter. Steven died and Henry L Stevens died and my 2nd great grandfather John Curran Johnston married Mahala Carpenter Jackson. Mahala died during the Civil War and Henry L Stevens died at about the same time. My 2nd great grandfather then married #4 Elizabeth Jackson Steven's. As I said when I was doing research I was Looking at the Carpenter family connections to the "Nathan Smith Settlement" as well as the Minyard, Guess, and other families that are related to me.

I must tell you that I am quite surprised about the Smith Jackson connection. I have long suspected that the Jackson family were at or near the Nathan Smith Settlement but had over looked the family of Elizabeth Jackson being married to Nathan Smith. Elizabeth's younger brother George Jackson is my 3rd great grandfather. Cecelia Gordon and William Jackson are my 4th great grandparents.
When I opened Elizabeth Jackson's profile I see that her husband is Nathan Smith.
As to where I get my information I do a lot of research. I have poured over the Nathan Smith Settlement many times and saw that the Jackson family and the Carpenter family had come from the same places as well as the other families mentioned in the document concerning Cherokee intrusion on Cherokee lands.
Are we related?

I hope thatyou are still doing research about the Jackson family. Tying in the Jackson family to the Nathan Smith settlement would be fantastic.
Before I write to much I want to hear from you.
My ggreat grandmother was Elizabeth Jackson Stevens Johnston Crow, daughter of George Jackson and Elizabeth Russell

Can you add #55033828 and #15916765 to George E Jordan #154712385 as a sibling. Parents are Janie Mae Jordan and Joseph Boone Jordan. I was George Jordan's daughter-in-law for 20 years and know this was his brother and sister.

Thank you Patti, hope you can help me find them.
|Dorothy Smith||RE: Wyley Smith - Memorial# 27958987|
I'm having problems with my account but I'll try again! Thanks for adding the information to Wyley Smith's page. He was the brother of my great grandfather Fayette. It looks like there were four brothers who fought in the war. At one time I read a document where the surviving brothers were considered AWOL because they went back to work the harvest.
Wyley ENLISTED in the 33rd but due to casualties, it was combined with the 34th and rolled into the 45th. I've found at least two sites with this info but no original docs to verify.
Happy to meet you. D.
