My husband, Mac, and I have taken on this project to try and help others see the final resting places of their loved ones. I enjoy genealogy research, and have been helped by FAG volunteers filling my requests for photos, therefore we thought this would be a good way to "pay it forward". If anyone has additional information to add or corrections that should be made to these memorials, please let me know. |
You are more than welcome to use photos that we've made and added to FAG however, we would ask that you give us credit by adding the following information:
Find A Grave volunteer: Hancock #47167004.
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and the date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who cares
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you."

This is my family, my first cousin, why would I not want his memorial? I would appreciate it if you would transfer it to me. Thanks again

Hi We spoke awhile back and you transferred my great grandmother memorial to me. I have found out her son Willie Rycroft is buried next to her. He died at age 17 of typhoid fever. I would like to request a photo if you live near by.

You are very welcome. I still have not finished photographing all of Cedarwood. In addition, there are many unmarked graves there. And some stones are covered and I don't catch that as I walk by. So keeping requesting photos and if I have them, I will answer your requests. I have about 5000 photos to put online so, if you have requests, I will answer them faster, if I found the monument. In the end I plan to look for all requests that I did not find photos for to determine whether the grave is unmarked or not and let folks know.

not sure I know most of my side was from NC and SC. My husband's mother was also a Dunn (not related to me) was also from NC. Of course I am sure they all started from other states or moved to other states. My great grandfather was James Bernard Dunn his dad was Wesley Dunn. I can find my great great great grandfather's name he married Charlotte Covington but can't find anymore on him. I can find Charlotte's linage but not his.

I need the photo of the father James Harden Wood born 1899 and died 1956. This is not the right one. I know this is hard because they didn't use the right titles. I guess because the father dropped Sr so the child started using it, etc. But look at the dates and you will which one I'm needing the photo on. :) Thank you for trying though!

As far as I can tell, both her husbands are buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, AL.
Could you link Beulah to her parents?
Thanks. Keep in touch

Duplicates can be made in so many ways and usually if surnames are spelled incorrectly or dates don't match. Anyway, don't worry about it but keep on doing your great work for findagrave. I have been working for months going name by name in all the cemeteries in Cullman Co, AL and now DeKalb Co, AL looking for cousins that I might not know where buried. I keep a very extensive database! This process, although slow sure has helped me find cousins. Anyway, that is how I come across duplicates. I surely don't just go looking for duplicates! Nice of you to write.
