RE: Find A Grave Memorial# 125336696
I don't want to be obstinate about this, but this record needs some serious research as to her maiden name. Evidently there are two Jemima Crocketts. 1 is Jemima Crockett Cochran in the grave records and the other is this lady Jemima Bevins mostly exist in the census?. She may not be a Crockett after all. The folks that have weighed in have one of them confused as to which is the daughter of Robert & Rachel Crockett assuming there is not enough error to have them be the same person. The Jemima Crockett Cochran has different (younger)dates and went to Mo and died there and has a tombstone.

No doubt this is Jemima Bevins but her maiden name is in question. Also there is no proof she is buried here. There has been no one set fourth a grave listing in this cemetery for her in the past or present. I added her here because she was last identified in the census as living here.

I should yield this record to someone that is a serious researcher looking for absolute answers (not just a crowd follower) and that could be you. In other words I want a more intense researcher than I on the subject. If Jemima Bevins is a Crockett and her parents are as some state then she is a third great aunt or enough kin that I can weigh in on the subject. I just don't want anyone locking down on her as the dau of Robert & Rachel Kerr when she does not fit the lineup of children, though that is not absolute.

Your thoughts? Do this with E-mail. I hope I am not scaring you away, but stirring you to action.

RE: Hugh Caulkins
Gene, be a bit wary of the Ancestry "hints". I have only accepted "official" source information and I have slightly different dates than what is shown on the headstone you photographed. I can't claim to have researched this family extensively, but I do hold a genealogical research certificate and am a bit more exacting in what information I accept for my records. Ancestry is a great tool but many people who post family trees don't do any research and when you look at the dates it becomes obvious.

Hugh Caulkins
Just saw these messages and was interested to find out whether either Gene or any of the other folks have other genealogical information on Hugh and / or his wife Ann? They were my deceased husband's 10th great grandparents and I have been researching the family line for a number of years.

Samuel Urmey
I corrected the death date for Samuel. I would estimate the date of birth to be Dec. 1, 1819. If he was 32 years and 2 days when he died.

Hi Gene, I'm happy to report that the Hartles at Grand View are your family. I've updated their dates, provided links and will transfer their memorials to your care. Thanks for writing, and I hope you get to come out to Grand View in the near future. It's currently open Sundays 12-4 but we expect it to open again full time in the very near future. Announcements of changes will be posted on the website.
