 | RE: Thanks for looking for John Nixon's grave Cool, 3 of those have stones I found and 3 are on the other list and no stone found now. Good place to start poking around. | | | Alan Lathrop
 | RE: Thanks for looking for John Nixon's grave OK Bill, I hope Mr/Mrs Bates do a walk around this weekend and call to say they found John. After finding him in the history book I assume he is in the First Weybridge Hill cemetery so maybe if you go there will be a stone found. Did he have any other family names that might be near him? I have listed all I found and just added the few others that I did not find but were listed in the history book. If you see any connection in the list that might be a starting place to poke around. This is a stony/ledge area and a lot of what look like markers are actually ledge and lot of the old markers can't be read. Seems like he should pop his head up and say hi soon if we keep after him. | | | Alan Lathrop
 | RE: Thanks for looking for John Nixon's grave BTW I would be happy to show you where it is if you are over here again. A hike across private property but land owner is ok with it | | | Alan Lathrop
 | RE: Thanks for looking for John Nixon's grave After getting home I have looked at some of the Weybridge History and it does show John Nixon JR 4/24/1813 age 55 in First Weybridge Cemetery. Maybe the land owner will have better luck. I believe I have all the stones I can read entered now. I did try checking the footstones today to make sure the initials matched the stone. There are still a lot of old stones I can't read. I am trying to find some info on the Nixon Farm | | | CBeatty
 | Buck Memorials, Old Chelsea Cemetery Thank you for the offer to visit Old Chelsea cemetery again. I would love it, if it hasn't snowed yet. Some of the markers I am looking for include, Content Buck, possibly another Daniel Buck, Infant Buck, Londuis Buck, and Samuel Buck. I am not sure if there are any more or not, but I would love to see what you can come up with. These are all family members of mine. Thank you so much.Added by CBeatty on Nov 21, 2011 11:44 AM | | | LadyGoshen
 | RE: Orestes Cleveland no problem! really--a few minutes of my time and maybe we can get history corrected. Excellent thought about the Fairview confusion! my compliments! There is a lot of stuff out there (wikipedia, etc.) that all have the VT location. I'm excited to find out--keep me in the loop. .nicole. | | | LadyGoshen
 | Orestes Cleveland hi Bill, I went to Norwich Historical Society and looked through all the cemetery inventories (whew!)... According to these books (of various years), Orestes is not buried in any of the 9 cemeteries in Norwich. I did find a Mary Cleveland (d 10/26/1839) and Hannah Cleveland (wife of C Cleveland, died 10/5/1837) in the Union Village cemetery. I also checked for the alternate spelling (Cleaveland) but nothing...

 | RE: General John Nixon This is such good news. Such an important patriot's grave needs to be found and photographed and honored. Thanks for your efforts. Hope your expedition is fruitful. | | | 2patriots
 | General John Nixon Bill, When you created Gen. John Nixon's memorial and bio stating he is buried on his son's farm in Weybridge, Addison, VT, what is your source that he's buried there? He's my 5th gr grandfather and final resting place is an important fact for my cousins and I to determine. Some say his body was taken to Sudbury, MA. There are no marker photos. Thanks, Nancy in FL
