Having more fun walking the older areas of the cemeteries and thinking of the histories.|
I have photographed all of Oak Grove and more than half of Lakeside in Pekin, IL. There are alot of missing headstones and quite a bit that are unreadable. Getting what I can before they are gone.
I will transfer ONLY within Find A Grave's guidelines. Though happy to add any information you have to the memorials. This is a memorial site, not a family genealogy site.
I also have spent many an hour walking the cemeteries and transcribing headstones that are hard to read. If you take any of the photos and place them on other sites such as Ancestry, at least make credit back to me. May sound selfish, but giving credit to someone for their work is only correct.

Maybe it showed up goofy someplace. I see that on family search sometimes, where a good intention-ed but uninformed indexer has picked up a wrong line or typo. Thanks for the fix!

I just KNEW you had to be related! My grandmother Thelma lived with "Aunt May", as my dad called her, after the death of her mother Ella, Mary Ann's sister. Please, by all means, use the email listed on my profile and drop me a line. I would love to know where to get a copy of the book you refer to and share some photos with you.

There is a black and white picture/drawing of John Gainer attached to his Find A Grave profile that says it was contributed by you. According to my records, Johannes "John" Gainer had a son named John Martin Gainer. These two men are my 3rd great grandfather and 3rd great-uncle. I am descended from Emma Gainer. I was curious how you knew which John Gainer it was in the photo... And if you knew where I might find others of members of this family?
On a side note, I have been to Woodrow Cemetery and stood in front of this grave. I understood these people were family and I felt much reverence and respect, but I'd love to go back someday now that I "know" these people through my genealogical research. My most sincere thanks for doing what you do. Without this information, some of us would never know more about our families.

|Mike Corray||Stella Dennis Halstod|
Forget my request. You had posted the information on Stella's memorial, from the Illinois Deaths and Stillbirths - sorry to trouble you! Mike
|Mike Corray||Stella Dennis Halstod in Lake Side|
Can you tell me where the information on Stella Dennis Halstod's parents came from? I was showing Lillie Arbuckle as Stella's mother with Emily McIntosh possibly being a 2nd or 3rd wife of William Stephen Dennis. I believe Lillie Arbuckle died in 1907 in LeRoy, Illinois, possibly due to childbirth as she was buried with an infant in Oak Grove cemetery. Data is vague so looking for verification. Thanks for adding that headstone. Her trail had gone cold after the 1910 Federal Census.

How do I access that index??
In the material on her memorial, I see that it says her mother and father were born in Pennsylvania, but I do not see anywhere that it says where she was born.
Do you have an e-mail address I can send you copies of some stuff I have from my uncle who was working on the family history before he died in 1995?
