|Having more fun walking the older areas of the cemeteries and thinking of the histories.|
I have photographed all of Oak Grove and more than half of Lakeside in Pekin, IL. There are alot of missing headstones and quite a bit that are unreadable. Getting what I can before they are gone.
I will transfer only within Find A Grave's guidelines. Though happy to add any information you have to the memorials. This is a memorial site, not a family genealogy site.
I also have spent many an hour walking the cemeteries and transcribing headstones that are hard to read. If you take any of the photos and place them on other sites such as Ancestry, at least make credit back to me. May sound selfish, but giving credit to someone for their work is only correct.

I know that you have walked and added many memorials for the cemeteries in Pekin. Would you happen to know if there is a Catherine or Ellen Catherine Brown (b. abt 1915) buried in Lakeview Cemetery? She is the wife of Mannon LeRoy Brown Sr. (memorial # 100116411) that was created by another contributor. I have searched all over and cannot find a memorial for her anywhere. She is the mother of Mannon LeRoy "Curly" Brown Jr. I am not sure of her date of death. Thanks

I suggested that his death date was Feb 1850 based on the 1850 Federal Census Mortality Schedule found at
Then using the age at death calculated his birth date

Thank you - I just noticed it this evening when I was checking to see if the person in the obituary had been entered on Find A Grave - You're doing great work, very much appreciated!

Thank you so much for adding a memorial for her. I had searched all over the site to see if she was on here. And thank you for linking her to son Clarence.

I have gained family information THANKS to you. I would like you to correct one thing for me. Regarding Ewald Proehl in Lakeside Cemetery. He does have a daughter named Bertha, she was born 7 Feb 1875 and married Alexander Eitenmiller, both are also buried in Lakeside Cemetery. The Bertha Proehl-Vehlow you have listed as his child, would mean that the mother Matilda, had to have given birth at age seven. Please detach this Bertha from Family links and add the other. Thanks.

If you know, would you tell me, where to find the info on Isabelle South? I thought John Lynch's wife was Eva Smith, but this may not be my John Lynch. Eva's headstone is here at Lakeside, but she actually didn't have a living child. Her niece, was raised by Eva and she would have been the only mother she knew. Eva's family all lived in OH. Her brother Stratton, father of Catherine/Kathryn/Cassie's... mother died shortly after she was born. She was w my Grgrmthr in 1900 OH, then in 1910 she is listed w John & Eva in IL.Thank You Very Much for posting so many tombstones. I became disabled 1000 mile away from home, so am not able to fill any Find A Grave requests for the last 4 yrs. ugh Thanks again Cygre`

|MJI||RE: Tina Hilst|
The family's last name morphed over the years. The cemetery listing was compiled later on. P.J. (Peter John) & K.A. (Kathryn or Catherine or Kate Angeline or Angelina) Hulst (or Hilst) are my 2nd great grandparents. The tomb stones have the German spelling of their last name on the marker. The cemetery's listing shows the anglicized last name, Hilst, only because by the time it was complied no one in the Hulst family was using the German spelling any longer. The infant son, Peter J, was named after his father. His marker shows Hülst as the last name using the umlaut "u," which is the true German spelling. Tina, the infant daughter is named after grandmother Tena (or Thena), Kate's mother. Hope this helps!
