IMPORTANT NOTICE: Over the years I have left hundreds of memorial notes on Confederate veteran's FindAGrave memorial pages, using a particular Confederate Flag as a symbol. Recently I discovered that flag had been replaced with flowers. If you see one of my memorial messages left on a memorial page with flowers instead of the flag, please notify me so that I can make the appropriate changes.|
Sons of Confederate Veterans Compatriot - Camp No. 1921 - The Tallassee Armory Guards.
Please feel free to use/share photographs and other historical information I've posted to memorials.
The Chattahoochee Valley Historical Society has endorsed FindAGrave and as a member of that society I have visited many cemeteries and added graves/memorials on its behalf.
I manage several hundred memorials in Chambers County, AL that Hank Rogers transferred over to me before he became inactive with F.A.G.
Also, most of the very old newspaper items on my memorials are through the courtesy of F.A.G. Member #47182102 who has painstakingly transcribed volumes of "The LaFayette Sun", the official newspaper of Chambers County, Alabama.

|Dean Newman||Thanks For the Photo of James M. and Mary Ann Cornelia Powell Newman|
My name is Dean Newman and I'm a descendent of James Madison and Mary Ann Cornelia Powell Newman by way of James Lafayette Newman, Marvin Edward Newman and my father, Robert Earl (Bob) Newman.
I just wanted to thank you for the image of James M and Mary Newman on Find A Grave.com. If I can return the favor, I live 2 hours SE of Washington, DC, in California, Maryland. My email address is email@example.com.
|Pam Smith||Don - Thank you|
I received a rejection on the parents and I must have thought it was for Mary Chafin and that you maintained the memorial. Thanks for your patience, I am old and senile now (almost 65) and don't see or hear as well as I once did. Sorry, if I had the wrong suspect (another Find A Grave contributor and another memorial most likely).
I appreciate all you do to help keep all the memorials that you updated properly. Pam
|Pam Smith||Mary Hunt Chafin|
I have requested an addition through the normal edit for her memorial that you maintain. If you will look at Parker Hunt memorial 161727425 it will list Mary and H C Chafin children as his grandchildren. I believe when Norman Satterwhite requested the parents be linked you rejected the request. IF Mary Hunt Chafin does not match your records as Parker and Rebecca Hunt's child then please link her to the correct parents. Thanks so much, Pam

|Jean Padgett||RE: Halsey Family Cemetery|
I can get there, in fact I have been wanting to go back there for awhile.
The cemetery was in horrible shape last the time I went there before, was sometime in the 80's with my mother and brother...he had to take a slingblade and cut us a path thru to it. Hunters have damaged the fence around the cemetery and the concrete slabs over the graves.
Maybe my husband and I can meet you somewhere near there and we can attempt to find it??
|Jean Padgett||Halsey Family Cemetery|
Thanks from the bottom of my heart for adding the family members interred in the Halsey Family cemetery located in Chambers Co., AL.
Martha is the first Halsey ancestor of our family to locate in Alabama. She is a true pioneer woman, coming from North Carolina and on the way her husband, George died in Georgia; he had already purchased land in Pike Co., Georgia which Martha later sold to one of her sons. She and son, William moved onto the land in Chambers Co., and he married and then the family located in Roanoke, Randolph Co., AL.
Now more of the family can know where their first ancestors to live in Alabama are buried.
Don't know how you found the cemetery cause it is in a off the beaten path; I've been to it, my mother remembered going as a young girl to help clean it off and back in the 70's she, my brother and I took a trip to the cemetery.
Again thanks so very much!!
Jean Walker Padgett
Great-great-great granddaughter of Martha Halsey

I have also notice many of my variations of confederate flags removed. The old saying is getting stronger "the spoils of war go to the victor" So did the History Books.
Plus a lot more

Thank you so very much for the headstone picture of Henry Tidwell.
