Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am currently working on my family tree and my husband's family tree. I apologize in advance to those that I send many SAC's. Sometimes it seems like I'm connected to everyone in a cemetery. I like to get as much information as I can on their memorials, but it is very important to me personally to add maiden names and links. Thank you to everyone who has added information and thank you to those who will in the future.

If you're planning to go to Mount Hope and aren't sure where your family is buried, email me ahead of time and I can send you more information, along with maps of the cemetery. Mount Hope covers a large area and it can be difficult to find a specific burial without a map.

I've completed taking pictures of Mount Hope Cemetery in Webb City, Mo, with the exception of stones added since June 2010, and they are all online. If there wasn't a stone, I took a picture of the space. The pictures that say "space unknown" means I have the block and lot number, but not the space number so I just took a picture of the lot or of an unmarked space in the lot.

I realize that some of my pictures are not all that great, so if you'd like me to try to get a better photo, let me know. If I've made any mistakes or you'd like more information added, just let me know.

Many of the headstone pictures that I've placed on my family's memorials were actually taken by my parents. I have my Mom's permission to use hers and since my Dad's passing, his pictures are now mine. I've created virtual cemeteries for family.

It is not my intention to create duplicate memorials and I try not to but sometimes it happens. Please let me know if I have created a duplicate and I'll remove mine. And I'd appreciate it if you don't create duplicates of ones already on. I am more than happy to transfer management of the memorials I have created unless they are my family. Just click on edit on the memorial and ask for a transfer and include your relationship.

I don't mind sharing the photos I've taken for personal use but I would like to request that others do not take credit for any photos I've taken.

Kelly,
Just to update this record, Inez had another sister, her name was Katie Ellen Athay Wallis. Katie was my maternal grandmother which makes Inez my great-aunt. There were also numerous half-brothers and half-sisters from the Athay side of the family.

Thanks!
No, you could never offend me. You do great things for everyone in that region. I was just curious about the relative who knew about that relative. I don't mind at all the you transfer any Hardy to me since I pretty much know who all of them are. That one was my 3x great aunt. I just meant I wasn't asking for a transfer since some people don't like to do them. Thank you!!!

RE: Your post on Chas. Leo Hardy?
Kelly,

Read my post. I'm not asking for a transfer. I was just trying to figure out who sent you that info because they would be a cousin of mine.

Thanks!!

RE: Joseph Sewell
Ok, Kelly, I certainly Understand.

In that case, then I would ask that you please establish links to some of his descendent memorials. I will provide the information.

Thanks

Ed

Your post on Chas. Leo Hardy?
Kelly,

Are you the one who wrote this on Charles Leo Hardy's grave? He is my grandmother's brother. (I agree, his middle name was Leo.) If you wrote it, we're cousins. :0) If not, you started the profile and I wonder who wrote it. Do you know?

Birth: Nov. 10, 1899, USA
Death: May 5, 1948
Park Valley
Box Elder County
Utah, USA [Edit Dates]

The grave marker erroneously says his middle name was Lee. He either changed it himself because he didn't like Leo, or an error was made on the grave marker. The birth and death dates are correct for Charles Leo Hardy and I'm POSITIVE his middle name was Leo; he was my grandmother's brother and she told me his full name many times in a family oral history I recorded. He died in Utah and his body was shipped home (according to his obit) so he could be buried at Mount Hope with his family.

Charles Leo's wife's name was Herna (according to his obituary), last name unknown.

He served in WWI in the Missouri S2C USNRF.

Joseph Sewell
Hi Kelly,

My name is Ed Anderson and I am a descendent of Joseph Sewell through his son James Albert Sewell and his spouse Phoebe [Fairchild] Sewell, their Daughter Louisa Fairchild [Sewell] Neighbors and their daughter Edna Laura Bell [Neighbors] Anderson.

I was part of the family reunion from which you got the photos of the laying of the Revolutionary War marker at Joseph Sewell's grave site. Photos in the woods.

I would like to propose that either the three Sewell Cemetery interments you have be transfer to me for maintenance OR that you add a link on James Albert Sewell memorial to his father Joseph Sewell. Then there will be a link of our family line from Joseph Sewell down to recent generations
of the Neighbors line.

Thanks for you consideration

Ileene Jenkins Garvey (1910-1974)
I did send an edit to this one, linking her parents. It's on your wall. Is that the edit you meant?

I couldn't find Saundra/Sondra.

Parents of Ileene Jenkins Garvey (1910-1974)

mother alice mary jenkins

63054655

father john w jenkins

63054684

(You transferred the latter 2 to me because Alice Jenkins was like a grandmother to us; babysat and cooked twice a week for us.)

IIlene's children were Saundra Garvey Smart. Saundra died at least 10 years ago I'd estimate; she was a nurse and wonderful person. Married WCHS math teacher Gary Smart. I can't find her in Mt. Hope, but would think she is there.

Gary Garvey is Illene's son. (I see Gary's wife, Sandra (not to be confused with Saundra) died and they have a double headstone.)

Postcards show first gravestones at Mt. Hope
Wow. I started looking and found a 1908 Mt. Hope postcard I'd never seen, at the Mo. Archives online.

I know "Hardy hill" (Hardy family name monument and countless plots for Hardy family to come) includes some of the first graves there. I think those markers back in the middle are Hardy hill. It's difficult for me to tell because I've never seen so few stones there and no big trees :0)
