Bio and Links
Bio Photo Born March 10, 1940 in Hogansville, Troup County, Georgia to Herman Hanson Mattingly and Mary Lee Oma Crowe and the second eldest of seven children to Herman and six to Mary.

My primary genealogical interests include Mattingly and Crow/e and connecting lines. I am descended from Cezar Mattingly but research all of the Mattingly name. From the Crow side, I am descended from James Crow (1713) and his second wife, Grace Denson.

If you see a memorial created by me and the individual concerned is of your immediate line, but not of mine, I am happy to transfer that memorial to you in accordance with Findagrave rules.

Agrey Hicks
Mr. Mattingly:
Thanks a great deal for the effort. As for having him in the wrong place, Leitchfield is the correct place. He was buried by Bobby Brownfield in E-town. He left Knott County in the 1940's and came back only to visit and lived in a variety of locations in Western KY until his death. One early marriage & divorce in Knott County with no children. But he was a rake and a rambling man, 5 ft. tall & 120, and at 80 had one old woman left to follow him to the grave and accept the flag from the veterans. Thanks a great deal.

Mr. Mattingly:
I appreciate the rapid answer. But I am sorry to say that shortly after I sent you the message I found another memorial page for Agrey which had a photo of a military tombstone but almost no information. Is it possible to copy & past photos on this site? And why do so many people seem to have duplicated memorial pages on the site? Also, would it be possible for you to add some information to the page for Agrey? He was the son of Woots Hicks ( 75299946) and Susie Hicks ( # 75299881). He was the brother of Mabry Hicks ( # 75299534) and Mellie Hicks ( # 75299109) who was my mother. I appreciate your help.

Dear Sir:
Agrey Hicks was my uncle and I attended his funeral. I have never been back to the cemetery. Do you know if he has a tombstone? Thanks!

Hello Mr. Mattingly, I believe that Mary's middle name was Ann. Her mother was my grandmother and she always called her MaryAnn never Mary Louise whenever she spoke of her. Also, I don't believe that she was stillborn since my grandmother always said she lived for several hours before dying. Just thought you would like to know.

Thanks for updating his memorial. He is the g-grandfather of a dear cousin of mine who lives in Ennis, but is not into computers or internet! She will be excited about what I have learned about her ancestors.

RE: Joseph James Wilson Mattingl
Cecelia/Sally must have died 1850-1854, at least according to my research, because James Edward remarried Elizabeth/Lizzie Brady in Marion County on 27 Jun 1854. He is close enough in age to his brother James that the only thing that would differentiate them is their wives. Although there is also a James E. Mattingly who also registered the same day in the same Congressional District.
