I live in Central Arkansas. I am doing research into the family tree so this site is invaluable to me. In time I may try to step it up and see if I can contribute photos of local cemeteries. For now though I will simply try and dig into those family roots.|

I took photos of rock markers at Young Gravelly. If convenient, send a photo and we might be able to mark the spot. Some cemetery workers are good about leaving the rocks even thought they do not know who they are for.

I have nothing on any Powers in Mt. Vernon (or Young Gravelly) Cemetery.
If the Powers were living in the Gravelly area, she could be buried at Young Gravelly. Since they lived at Belleville, I thought she might have been buried in Upper Spring Creek (near Belleville) since that is very close to a creek. I do not research the Powers so I only know what you have written. Wish we could locate and place something with a name on it there. It is sad, but so many of the rocks that our parents or grandparents remember are now forgotten
Most of the graves in Yell County were documented about 1965 by the Extension Homemakers and these are online. Of course without a maker, there would be no record.
If I can help with anything, let me know.

McVay, Mattie Martha Powers 106864162
b. 1872 d. 1910
I have been taking photos of monuments in Western Yell County. I've searched online and in the plot book for Young Gravelly Cemetery and have not been able to locate anyone with the name McVay. Do you think she was buried in another Yell County Cemetery?

Thanks for sharing Debbie's story with me. It's sad indeed that she doesn't have a marker. I'm a little surprised the cemetery hasn't said/done something about it. Does she have any living family members? If you can post a photo of her you can request her memorial be added to the online stroll which will bring her attention by the thousands. You will also have to have to add a bio for her. You may want to request transfer of the memorial to you if you don't already have it.
|FES||RE: Wattie Cecil Chism/Lottie Morris|
Ray, Write me at Walddo2u@aol.com-I have quite a bit on the Chism line, Cecil, (and grandpa James) was the only one of Dad's side that was living, when I was growing up. I'd like to connect this family togather. I have info on Cecil's son, Roger Allen Chism, by his 1st wife Esther Calloway also.
