Thank you
Dear Gordon Clan,

I want you to know how much I appreciate your generosity and kindness in sponsoring Ruth's memorial. Now I will be able to add more pictures tomorrow which really pleases me.

I read on my news site the uplifting stories every week, and this is certainly one for me; something that happens that is positive and totally unexpected.

Thanks again. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Sincerely, Susan

Marion "Bill" Gordon and Heinrich "Henry" and Ella Pelk
Ahoy GordonClan! In anticipation of your wanting to have them there, I have already posted the photographs for you on your Dad's memorial. I have also posted the same photographs to Heinrich Wilhelm "Henry" Pelk and his wife Ella A. Pelk's memorials, as I see they are also your close family relatives. Please check your Edits tab again, as I have sent you transcription, plot and GPS edits for Henry and Ella.

If you go to your choice of any of the memorials I maintain, you can send me a Suggest A Correction from that memorial, stating it is from the Gordon Clan. That will go directly to my email inbox and you can submit your email address in that fashion to keep it from the public eyeballs on Find A Grave. I would be glad to send you the digital photographs I have taken of your Dad's final resting place. It was my pleasure to locate him and take the photographs for your family. You could honor my effort by sharing the photographs with your family as you deem appropriate, no credit necessary please.

By the way, there is a Gordon mystery which I am trying to help my friend Glenda solve; her father was Glenn Gordon Canaday, but she never got to meet him; he was of the Gordon Clan. Perhaps something on his memorial may ring a bell and you can help us? We would greatly appreciate any pointers you might be able to give us to locate Glenda's two brothers (and possibly more siblings?). You can read about Glenda's mystery on the memorial which I maintain for Glenn Gordon Canaday, # 125781055. My efforts for Glenda are what led me to discover your Dad. Once I saw he was a close relative of GeorgiaCA, I decided to find him and take some extra photographs for your family. Kind regards, Bridey Light

Dear Fred aka GordonClan: I went to Ocean View Cemetery's Mausoleum on July 7th and took some photographs of your Dad for you. Have also sent you edits for his plot, GPS location (GPS goes to the roof where he is, inside the Sanctuary of Peace), and transcription. Just in case anyone wishes to visit your Dad or Henry and Ella Pelk, they can definitely find them easily. If you don't wish to have any of the photographs posted, please let me know. Or, if you would like me to email the originals to you, please RSVP and they will be yours. Kind regards, Bridey Light, Humboldt County, CA

Pearl Leavell photo request
There is no stone for this infant in this Block 4 which has many unmarked graves. However, obit has been added, link to father Edward made, and spelling of "Lavell" (which was on cemetery records) has been changed to correct spelling of Leavell. Let me know if any questions.

I can't say positively, but I'm fairly certain that Pawling was buried in the City Cemetery. When I go to the cemetery, I have a small (8 1/2 x 11) map that shows the cemetery boundaries, as well as the paved city road on the western side. I got the map from Sherrie at the City of Jackson Office. The historical section does not have additional plot lines on the map, while the newer sections do. However, based on the overall boundary lines, it appears that Pawling was buried at the northern boundary line (meaning the burial to the north of Pawling is in St Patrick's).

I know this is confusing, but accurate burial records weren't kept for the historical section. And to make matters worse, burials weren't in nice neat rows!

However, the Amador County Cemetery Board's website indicates burial in Jackson City Cemetery, Since St Patrick's is still associated with St Patrick's Parish (now St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Parish), the researchers who compiled the list for the Amador County Cemetery Board would have consulted them for their records.

For now, I'd say someone would have to provide a more conclusive argument to claim he was buried in St Patrick's! ;)

Hope this helps, Sherrill

Actually, his grave was very close to the others. About 50 feet to the south of the Gordon family plots. Having the info about the historical section helped (tho' I would have figured that out from some of the dates). The Gordon Family Plots are the known boundary between the Jackson City and St Patrick's Catholic Cemeteries.

Will get out to Jackson this week to update the other two memorials.

Jackson City Cem photos
Today, while I was out at the cemetery, I inadvertently missed taking the photo of the marble plaque listing Isaac Frisbee and Mary Coombs. I'll stop back by and get those to add to the memorials. I was taking so many in these two family plots, that I overlooked that one! I have added an overall plot photo for now.

Thomas Pawling

I checked on the Amador County Cemetery Board's website which lists Mr Pawling as being buried in Jackson City Cemetery ( However, the photo of his headstone in the other memorial looks to me to be in St Patrick's.

The City of Jackson doesn't have very good records for the old section (which is the section next to St Patrick's). And, it is difficult to tell the border between these adjacent cemeteries as the boundary is not straight!, and there is no fence between them.

In any case, I'll take another photo and add it to your memorial.
