I am an avid family historian for over 30 years and a native Montanan. When I was working on my MA thesis in History ("Myron Brinig's Butte: Jews in the Wide Open Town"), I spent a summer transcribing the information from the graves at the B'Nai Israel cemetery in Butte (my home town).
Family names I am researching include:
Wilson - McWhirter
Chartier/Carter - Neveu
Bertrand - Kuether
Sutherland - Sollars
Brittain - McMinn
Vance - Cole
Douthitt - Moore
Dillworth - Stilwell
Find a Grave is not a scholarly website. I think it has many purposes including providing catharsis and aiding with the grieving process, helping people with their family history, connecting relatives, remembering the dead, finding burial sites, etc. Those who think it is only for locating graves have a narrow imagination.
Sometimes all we know about a family member is what is printed in an old biography or what someone told us. This acts as a foundation for finding, correcting, adding to their history. I believe this should be a friendly collaborative process where we build together a story as we find more information. I will make mistakes. Feel free to let me know and I will correct.
My philosophy on transfers is simple - I believe memorials should be in the hands of relatives, even if not close relatives. I am happy to transfer, in fact I am waiting for the relatives of the B'Nai Israel and St. Patrick's cemetery memorials to contact me to care for their family memorials. I'm happy to transfer to relatives.

|Robert DeVowe||RE: Thank you|
Thank you Pam.
I read you message then your bio statement and totally agree with you. I with two French lines, a great grandfather and a ggreat grandfather, love working on the French lines and to date, have not come across another French Canadian that I am not related too at least once if not multiple times. We are one very large family. Thanks again, Robert.
|Kindred Kel||RE: Johann G. Ribble|
The name (& I'm the granddaughter, lol). It should read Jonathan George Ribble.
Unfortunately we don't have records that far back

|Karen Gibson||James Wilson error in bio|
James Wilson (b PA, 1808, d Deerfield, Ohio 1880) is my 3rd Great Grandfather. The wife you have listed for him conflicts with my info. My research indicates that he was married to Michal Gillum (see Fed. Census 1850) and his children were Sarah, Elizabeth, Esmerelda, Machal and William. You can check out my Ancestry.com under Paul-Gibson Family Tree.

|Linda T.||Sollars Relation|
Hello Pam, I've been working on my family genealogy and discovered Charles F. Sollars was briefly married to my Great Great Aunt's daughter before his death. If you are related, I'd really like to compare notes.

|C.B. Johnson||Mary (Gaston) Johnson and Wm Johnson|
Mary (Gaston) Johnson was born October 20, 1746 in Perrineville, New Jersey. She married William Johnson about 1774. They were the parents of at least one child - James Montgomery Johnson. Mary died on December 11, 1814 in Freehold, New Jersey at age of 68 years.
They Also had another child mane William I have good information on their ancestors and sketchy info on their descendants. Are you related to them and do you have any descendancy information.
Thanks C.B. Johnson email@example.com
I just wanted to thank you for posting the information about Marie Lebrun and Pierre Barbary Dit Grandmaison, as well as the history about the Lachine Massacre. They are my 9th great-grandparents. Thank you again for sharing this information.
