Thank you for the information on George E. Archibald. Julia Archibald is my aunt who lived about six lots away from my house in WV with her sister, Nora. I had met George E. numerous times especially after his divorce when he came back to live with Aunt Julia. We never could figure out exactly where he fit into the family tree, and it wasn't until the last few years when I started doing genealogy work that I found out. My big confusing question is why is there no date of death on his gravestone?? If he died in Ohio at the VA hospital, is it possible that he is buried elsewhere? Perhaps when Aunt Julia died, the gravestone was created and his date of birth put on it at that time planning that when he passed away he would be buried there. But are we sure he is? Is there no date of death because he is buried in Ohio somewhere? Or did no one just bother to add the date on the gravestone? This is a slight mystery to me. Also, I have read several places that Aunt Julia was single, perhaps never married, and this is what we all believed for as long as I can remember. I recently came across a book on the Shamblin Family (her sister Nora's married name) that lists a marriage and divorce years ago that none of us had heard about. Are you related to the family?
