I am a retired elementary school teacher and administrator. I am very passionate about genealogy and the history of Western North Carolina and Blount/Monroe Counties of Tennessee. I will be happy to share photographs from local cemeteries here in the Crabtree/Iron Duff area of Haywood County, NC.|
If you have time, I would appreciate your paying a visit to the memorial for my brother David Edwards Nichols, Metz Cemetery, Graham County, NC. David passed away on February 17, 2012. He was an avid genealogist and took many photos of stones for Find A Grave, as well as located pictures of individuals so I could post them. I have many more to post because he worked much faster than I. He's in Heaven now, and knows the answers to many of the questions I still have about our ancestors--always a step ahead of me. Thank you.
David Edward Nichols

No,i'm sorry, but I haven't been able to find his grave yet. that is something that I certainly wish that I could do. If I should be able to find him in the near future, I will let you know.

I'm sorry to hear about the grandson. I saw Hugh Carroll Jr play about 20 years ago.

|Gleann na Aoire||Joseph Welch of Macon County|
Joseph is buried in the old Welch Cemetery in Macon County. It is in the Burningtown community, but I couldn't tell you exactly where. I've been there, but it was about 20 years ago. There is a barbed wire fence around it to keep the cows out. It took some real digging to find this one. Unfortunately, I have no pics.
Joseph's wife was Catherine DECK, daughter of Jacob Deck (signed his name TACH), son of immigrant Johann Hendrick Deck/Tach and his wife Catherine Barbara Frolich. Jacob's Revolutionary War pension is #S7677.
Thanks for your story on Joseph. I'm proud to be a Welch descendant.

Frances, Dr. Lloyd Bailey says Morgan was a Union soldier, you gave him a Confederate flag? p. 695 (Lloyd's "Yellow Jacket" John Bailey book.)
At this point I can't remember where my info came from - I'm not related and have no personal knowledge. Sounds like you have better info so I'll delete my memorial. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

|Dale Coletta||RE: Email|
Frances, thank you so very much for this information. Please do send me the articles regarding Robert Andrew and Hannah.
|Dale Coletta||Rosetta Bailey Hampton|
Rosetta's father was Robert Andrew Bailey who died in 1942 from suicide and whose burial place is unknown to me. Her mother, Hannah Bradford Bailey Hammett, was my great aunt.
Thank you for all that you do.
