My name is Cherilyn, 36yo, mother, midwest transplant from San Diego, CA. I have been taught since a young age, the importance of history and documentation. Having been blessed with two aunts who have documented both my maternal and paternal trees to the 1600s, I have chosen to use my itch to help others.|
Have been a professional photographer by trade.
Volunteer in the Kansas Room of the Independence Public Library, where we research and document all historical and geneological aspects of Montgomery County, Kansas.
Believe in hope chests, hand-me-down quilts and photos.... take them often, store them digitally, write on the back! :)
Current projects... Trying my best to fulfill requests in Neodesha and surrounding. Recently finished writing a book on the Montgomery County Poor Farm.
Old Projects.... recently comfortable with continuing progress on Gragg/Boorigie lines, documenting the Harrisonville Cemetery and working on getting the owners of the land where a cemetery is, to allow me to clean it up, fence and sign.
Geneologist, writer, photographer and mom. Feel free to email. Love questions and requests.

|Bev Golden||Capt Samuel T. Shore|
Thank you for your messages on Capt Samuel T. Shore. You've got me intrigued with your identification of the Samuel Shore who was at the Poor Farm in 1910 with Capt Samuel T. Shore, son of Narcissa Jean Shore. I put that census record as a possibility on his mother's memorial, but isn't the Samuel T. Shore who was living in Prairie City, Douglas Co., KS more likely? Have you found something while doing your research on the Poor Farm?
I share your interest in Poor Farm residents. I've managed to add most of the ones listed at the Franklin Co., MO one by researching online death and census records. I think it's very valuable historical research and a way of remembering those who've been otherwise forgotten. Bev

Thank you for the grave marker photo!
|JElkins||Caroline Cornett photo|
Thank you for the photo of the marker for the poor little Caroline Cornett girl. Her relatives sent me her obituary to post too.

|Phyllis Jarred||Baby Johnson 1909|
You might like to link this child to his parent: Leroy Johnson #57607185 and Dora Alice Bryan Johnson, not sure of her number. I only have six of the digits #551508--. Thanks!

|Dan & Barbara||Day Cemetery|
Hi I see you took the picture across the fence from the Day Cem Chautauque county. I would love to have a picture of Mason True Family . From the looks of the picture this Cemetery is reverting back to mother nature and really needs to be photographed for historians. Is it on private property and owners wont allow this. Or so out of the way that it would be really hard to get to ? Just Curious about this one wish I lived closer so I could try to do it myself.
If I was to travel there would I be allowed access to it ?
Sorry to bother you
Have a nice New Year
|Janet Milburn||Re: Mr. Hooter|
Cherilyn -Hi! No I just wandered acrossed Mr. Hooter, in my journey thru Find A Grave.It is like time travel, you start out in one state or location and end up in an other, and wonder how you got there. I felt sympathy for someone ending up in a poor farm. So left a memorial. Best wishes.
