I am an archaeologist with an interest in local history and genealogy. In particular I am researching the following families:|
*Smalls of Somerset, PA and Scotland (William Small)
*Gibbens of Venango, PA (John Henry Gibbens)
*Zellers of Huron, OH (Samuel Zeller)
*Schraders of Mahoning, OH and Germany (Anna Schrader)
*Stoneciphers of Harrison County, IN and Germany (Heinrich Stonecypher)
*Ransdells of Mercer County, KY (Shelton Ransdell)
*Taylors of Harrison County, IN (Samuel Taylor)
*Deweeses of Harrison County, IN and Tazewell, IL (Evan Deweese)
*Tuells of Harrison County, IN (Charles Tuell)
*Dentons of Southern Indiana (David Denton)
*Lincolns of Rockingham County, VA (Captain Abraham Lincoln)
I am eager to meet cousins online to exchange info and family pictures. I have many, many Stonecipher/Taylor/Deweese tintypes that I haven't been able to identify. If you would like to take a look, I have uploaded them to my Flickr account.
I will happily transfer graves to relatives (regardless of the number of generations) and also to non-relatives who happen to be doing research on a particular family.

|JCox||William A Lincoln|
My mother had copies of the following 2 newspaper articles. I do not have the newspapers' names in order to give credit:
William A. Lincoln Dies Unexpectedly
Interment Tuesday at Thompson's Chapel
William Albert Lincoln, 76, of Frenchtown died unexpectedly Sunday morning at 7:30 o'clock in the Harrison County Hospital, following a days illness.
Mr. Lincoln was a son of Warden and Rachel Lincoln, both deceased. The remains were at the Swarens & Adam Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Thompson's Chapel, of which he was a member. The Rev. Lloyd Hager, pastor and Dr. J. Ed Murr officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. The pallbearers were Robert and Eldon Bary, Jerome Smith, Elmer Brooks, Owen Murr and Chester Lincoln.
Survivors include five daughters and one son, Mrs. Grace Thevenot of Arthur, IA, Mrs. Mabel Bye of Odebolt, IA; Mrs. Helen Wright of York, NE; Mrs. Lillian Smith, Mrs. Lena Bary and Bruce Lincoln of Depauw. He also leaves thirty-eight grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters, Charles Lincoln, Ed Lincoln, Frank Lincoln and Mrs. Florence Austin of Depauw, Willard Lincoln and Mrs. Lula Canoles of Milltown.
2. Handwritten date of April 1, 1953
Willie Lincoln, one of our most sincere christian gentlemen was called by death early Sunday morning. Having suffered a heart attack he was taken to the Corydon Hospital a few hours before death. Willie has been unable to walk for twenty some years. It has become a familiar sight to see Joe Applegate come carrying him into prayer service after doing his days work at Jeffersonville Depot and driving to Frenchtown to get Willie. Willie's testimony and prayers have been an inspiration to our church. His favorite song was "When We All Get To Heaven" after which he would shout and praise God for being so wonderful to him. He never complained of his afflictions. When greeted he always replied "I am just fine."

|Lisa C.||John H Gibbens (1832)|
Hello! Thank you for all the work you've put into the Gibbons lines of Jackson, Venango, Pennsylvania.
I would like to bring your attention to evidence that John H Gibbens (1832) is the son of Andrew Jackson Gibbons (1809) and Mariah Armstrong (1812).
John H Gibbens (1832)
Record added: Jun 17, 2013
Find A Grave Memorial# 112474669
This memorial states that John H Gibbens (1832) is the son of John H Gibbens (1799) and Susannah Stainbrook (1805).
However, there is a death certificate which attributes parentage to Andrew Gibbons and Mariah Armstrong. Message me and I will email it to you.
Andrew Gibbons is the brother of John H Gibbons (1799).
John H Gibbons (1799) did have a son John H Gibbons... but he was born in 1835 and was married to Mary J Long (1836).
This mistake is understandable... as Andrew (1809) and his brother John (1799) lived next to one another in the 1860 Jackson, Venango, Penn Census. And next to brothers Andrew and John is a John H Gibbens (1832) and his family. That is Andrew Gibbons and Mariah Armstrong's son... not the son of John H Gibbons (1799) and Susannah Stainbrook.
Also in town (earlier in the census) are John Gibbons (1835) and Mary J Long (1836). That is John H Gibbons (1799s) son.
I also have DNA evidence to support this... as I am descended from John H Gibbons (1835)... and I have a close DNA cousin who is descended from Tobitha Gibbons (1844) who is purported to be the sister of John H Gibbons (1832)... but that's not correct according to the death certificate and my DNA cousins. Tobitha's correct brother is John H Gibbons (1835).
John H Gibbons (1832) and John H Gibbons (1835) are cousins. But John H Gibbons (1832) descendants are likely descended from Armstrongs, not Stainbrooks.
I look forward to sharing my findings with you and helping others to straighten out their trees.

I am doing some research for my sister on her husbands family, Stonecipher. He is a decendant of Johann Heinrich Steinseifer, John Henry Stonecipher, Henry J Stonecipher, Andrew Stonecipher, James Clem Stonecipher and William Andrew Stonecipher. You reference "Steinseifer/Stonecipher," Harrison County Family Histories. I can not locate a copy of this publication. Can you direct me to a source to get a copy of this publication or any other documents on this family.

|Barb Daniel||Thank you!|
Thank you so much for the photos of the pages from the Milltown Methodist Episcopal Church Bible, attached to William S. Daniel in Milltown Cemetery. He and Sarah Catherine Russell Daniel were my great-great-grandparents. I really appreciate seeing these!

Above seems to be listed twice in Find A Grave. Memorial 50928982 and 7500974. Both seems to be correct but one needs to deleted. I was going to add her parents 32517722 and 32517387 when I noticed. Could you please get with the other contributor "Elliott" and decide which memorial to save.
|nadine hapach||Linus Dobson|
This could be right. Uncle Linus still has 2 children living, but I do not know them. He didn't marry Aunt Letha till maybe late 1930's. Cloyd was born in Timblin and it is right down the right from where the family grew up. Very interesting.

I wanted to thank you for the great pictures you've posted on F.A.G. and was wondering if you would allow me to post some of them to my online tree. Of course, I'd credit you for them. Thank you very much for considering it!
|Cathy Leary||Cavanaugh Pence|
I added a grave picture that I believe to be Cavanaugh Pence in the North Middletown Cemetery. The name is spelled with a K, and the birth date is 1892 instead of 1893 on the stone. The death year is the same. Let me know if this is not the correct stone and I can remove the photo.
|Ruth gibbens||Wonderful photos|
