Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have lived in Platte County, Missouri all my life and since retirement, I now have time to work on Family Tree. My father's family came to Platte County abt 1890 and my mother's family came to Platte County abt 1850. My wife's family have lived in Platte County since 1841. I volunteer at the Platte County Historical Society and enjoy finding families at cemeteries.

You posted a photo for this gravestone in 2011 and it is good you did! It is now practically unreadable. It's is just awful how much damage has been done in only 3 years time. It reaffirms that the photo-documentation this site promotes is invaluable.

RE: John Rohring
Ok, interesting, ... do you know if there is a headstone for John Jr (and Henry) at this same cemetery?

RE: John Rohring
Which son? I wish I could send the copy of the 1870 Census. I do believe Sarah's maiden name should be (may be, not certain) Moore.

Memorial# 63441649
Hi, Bill. Thank you for all your work in connecting us to our ancestors. Can you tell me where you got the date of birth for Anna Maria Harris Crutchfield? The only record I could find that indicated birth was the 1850 census, where she's listed as 41 years of age. This means she could have been born in 1808 or 1809. If it was 1809, as the memorial states, she would have been illegitimate, as her father died in Feb of 1808. You can see why I'd like to know. If possible, could you email me at the address below?
Thank you.

John Rohring
I found the gravestone of my 3rd great grandfather John Rohring thanks to your posting a photo in the Laurel Hill Cemetery area. Thanks so much! I see his wife's name was Sarah and it appears the maiden name is Helfrey. How do we know that is the correct maiden name. many on Ancestry have her name as Moore. ?? just a little confused. If there are other Rohring headstones in this cemetery I would be interested in seeing them as well. I have photographs of Henry, Josie, and another of their brothers taken in Horton (I believe). Thanks for your dedication to history!!

Anna Carlene Dreyer
I am searching for Anna Carlene Foster, born in 1921 and graduated from Pittsboro, Indiana High School in 1939. Anna Carlene Dreyer 1921 keeps
coming up. However I can't verify that she is the
Anna Carlene Foster that I am searching for, and
since you are a Foster, I was thinking you might know. I surely would appreciate you letting me know if Anna Carlene Dreyer is Anna Carlene Foster.
Very much appreciate your help.
Thanks, Lou Spoon

I cannot thank you enough! Do you have any more info on William Guthrie and Mary Yates perchance? are there any newspapers from the mid to late 1800's still extant from Platte Co?

RE: William Guthrie
Do you have exact dates of death for William Guthrie and Mary his wife perchance? People keep listing the court date that his children were bonded as his death date, and I knew that was wrong. Thanks!

William Guthrie

thanks for your info. Obviously the info I was given was incorrect. I have created the cemetery under the name Guthrie - Mitchell Cemetery. You have a number of memorials of relatives of mine. Would you be willing to transfer them, or, are you related somehow?

Thank you so much. Yours was first and if you want to make another it's really okay with me. I can connect her with her family on yours. I'm not trying to collect memorials. In fact I'm wondering what I'm going to do with those I have when I am no longer able to do this. I have no problem with you having her. Really. Just let me know.
She was my aunt and I loved her dearly and spent many weekends laughing at her antics. She was quite the character. Always. Even as a child. Hiding out in the outhouse to avoid doing her evening chores. Must have really hated them to prefer the outhouse! lol.
Since her stone says Overall, I guess her memorial should say her name was Overall, as yours did. I wonder if her daughter didn't know she was going by the Scobee name. lol. I'll have to ask her.
