I was born and raised and work in northern Virginia. I'm a 64 year old Federal Government employee with 41 years of service. Almost ten years after its inception, I found this site quite by accident when a co-worker asked me to help him at lunch time take a photograph of a headstone that was overgrown with bushes. After that, I was hooked fulfilling photo requests, primarily at nearby Arlington National Cemetery.|
Then it occurred to me that this would be a great place to document my family tree for all to see, which would be based on the extensive genealogical research that my aunt has been doing for the past 15 to 20 years. This project of linking thousands of memorials is going to take a very long time (if it's at all possible) to complete due to several memorial creators, totally unrelated to my family, who will neither transfer ownership nor respond to SAC edits. That is not to say that all memorial creators are like that. Indeed, most are very gracious and totally responsive, and for that, I whole-heartedly thank them.
If I have a memorial for one of your relatives, I'll gladly transfer ownership upon request. If you make your transfer request via SAC edit and after two days I haven't made the transfer, please email me directly or leave a public message here on this page.
You have my permission to use any of my photos, as long as you include attribution.

Thanks for reminding me about Willie's memorial page. I had requested it be updated to famous, but failed to follow up. His remains were interred at Oak Hill from 1862 to 1865. In fact news articles of the time report how President and Mrs. Lincoln would visit Oak Hill to view Willie's remains, which were amazingly preserved as a new embalming technique had been used at the Lincoln's request.

Thank you so much. I didn't expect to hear from you so soon. I'll just wait until I hear from you again before I do anything.

|Sharon Buccelli Schaffer||Thank you|
Thank you for the photo of my dads grave. When they lay the wreaths on the 14, as they are including his section this year, might I be able to have a photo of his grave with the wreath? Thank you so much for what you do to help us to feel connected despite our distance. Bless you!

Thanks for the info. I was kind of shocked when I saw the headstone, but then read your email. I really appreciate your efforts. I can honestly say that I have never seen a headstone marked like that before. But there is always a first for every thing in genealogy.
Take care, and hope to talk to you soon
