Working on family history - & helping others connect the dots - like other volunteers we are wanting to preserve history before the words on the stones fade away - to connect others to their family- friends-loved ones. No one should be forgotten.|
creating pages - preserve their history- I only add pages/photographs for genealogy / preservation reasons or for individuals/family members that requests photographs of stones.
I would like to thank all of the volunteers for taking photographs of my families stones all over the Nation - from 1600"s to present I am writing my own genealogy reference book for my own family.

Regarding your photo request: if you look at the memorial for Effie, the photo of her gravestone is already there. I have taken another photograph and can post it if you would like, but it will be a duplicate.
If you do not want the duplicate, please delete your photo request.

Hi! My family also descends from sooo many Masons! I can't even believe how many different lines. I have written to the Johnstown, NY lodge for info on my 6th great-grandfather Robert Adems who was also a master in abt. 1760, and on his grandson-in-law Rev. John Urquhart who may have been a mason, not sure, but we know he spoke at an important event in the St. George/Schenectady lodge around 1798. I never hear back though. How do you search there? Congrats to your son!
We also descend from Mayflower families (Alden & Howland) & mom's in the DAR. Oh and Planters! We really have a lot of genealogical similarities. Who were your Mayflower ancestors? Are you on Ancestry? We could see each other's trees. Or Family Tree DNA?
I looked up Chickamoo and it seems to be in Chilmark, but is often referenced in relation to Takemmy (Taukemy) & Christiantown which are in West Tisbury where i live. And you mentioned the sea coast defense, which i think our Maker family ancestors were also in here on the island, even though they were from Cape Cod.

I wish i could say that my family came to the Island long ago, but most came in about the 1880's & summered in the Methodist campgrounds. We did have a few that came here as soldiers and another (name escapes me, possibly Thomas Manter) who was one of the first to be able to purchase land here. But your family names are very old & some, like Coffin and Merry are very well-known. Others like Claghorn & Greenleaf we don't hear much about, but i see their names when doing my F.A.G. volunteering. They were prominent back in the day, I'll bet. The museum has lots of info so i'll bet those books you ordered will be very helpful.
I'll look again for the Luce family graves in the West Tisbury Village Cem. One of these days. Are you related to Nancy Luce? Luce is still a big name, as is Merry. Have you visited Nantucket & Martha's Vineyard?

Thank you. We will be here until next Thursday, then we leave Minot. We do not live here. If there is anything your friend wants, I can try and do it for him. I have been having fun going to the library and finding obits. Linda
Thanks for deleting your duplicate. And thanks for all you do for Find A Grave!

Thank you for taking the photo of Benoit's tombstone but your memorial for him in Mt. View Cemetery is a duplicate. Will you please save your photo to the original memorial and delete yours? Thanks!
