Death comes once, but a cemetery is forever
Phillip M. O'Shea

The quality, not the longevity, of one's life is what is important. --Dr. Martin Luther King Jr

Please feel free to contact me about any graves I have listed. If I have listed someone that you are related to and I am not and you would like them transferred to you, please just let me know. If we are both related then I will have to think about it. Please feel free to use any of my photo's anywhere you want.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
(rev 21:4)

"Dear Ancestor
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and the date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who cares
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.

Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you."

A LIMB HAS FALLEN

A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says, "Grieve not for me.
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don't worry about falls
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes we're together again.

RE: Bertie
Bert A Lee is not my Uncle. But I know him from when he lived on Patterson and in Grapevine Branch on Dismal , with his wife (my 2nd cousin) , Mary Ellen Vandyke.

We used to watch Dark Shadows at his house at Patterson. He lived next to Arthur and Beulah Ray Dingess.

I stayed some with Bert , in Grapevine Hollow

I claimed this photo request, but have not been able to get ahold of the person who has the cemetery records to find out the location of the grave site. I think he is out of town. The site is not listed in the transcription book at the library as he was buried after the records were compiled. I am not in a position to walk all the possible locations in the cemetery; it would be quite an undertaking (fractured foot!). Therefore I have relinquished the claim since I cannot fulfill within the 2 week time limit.

The above FAgrave site for Fielding suggests he had
three wives He was widowed after the 1880 Census
Louisa his first wife. He did remarry ElizJ.
However, the 3rd woman listed married his father
Fielding Sr.They are on that same 1880 New Garden, Russell Co. Va. census but several pages apart.
this is part of my husbands' family of Virginians.
If you would like to transfer this to me I would
be happy to or you can just have this for your own
editing purposes.
My husband and I are leaving soon to visit that area for some other Combs Cemeteries. Will read one of your sayings over the stones.Best wishes, stormyc

RE: Abraham Owen Johnson
Your very welcome! It was a fun side trip while we were on vacation. I like working on my family history, but am fairly new to the findagrave community. Glad I could help you. I also added a handful of Belliston family members. I don't know if you saw them or not. I believe they are related to your "Abraham Owen Johnson".

Oliver Hilliar / Hillard
Hi Barbara,

I see that you maintain Oliver Hilliard's memorial #20841143, do you know where his son, Isaac Hilliard/Hillard (1737-1823) is buried, he married Sarah White (1740-1825), who is my 1st cousin, 8x removed. I can not find her or his burial place.

I found a Mortuary Notice in which it states; Died - Lately, in Amenia, Capt. Isaac Hillard, aged 79 years. The deceased was a soldier of the Revolution. I checked with Amenia, Dutchess County, New York and could not find any burial of him or his wife Sarah White Hillard. Their son, Isaac Hillard's wife and children are buried there, however, not Junior. What happened to Isaac Hillard, Sr., and Jr. ??

Can you help?
