My husband and I are parishioners of the Kula Catholic Community which includes Holy Ghost Mission in Waiakoa, HI, Our Lady Queen of Angels in Keokea, and St. James in Ulupalakua. We have been particularly interested in the geneology of his Portuguese ancesters, many of whom are buried at Holy Ghost.|
One of my ministries has been to keep track of all the burials in our two cemeteries at Holy Ghost and St. James. I have visited my family's gravesites in Texas and now am happy to finally have uploaded all of the Holy Ghost names. Hope to go on to include pictures of the gravestones and to add St. James in the near future.

I am doing family research and am trying to find some information on the couple my mother said were my godparents, Virginia and Fred Dupont (her spelling). I was born in Honolulu in 1952 and Aunty Jeannie was my babysitter until we returned to the mainland in 1954. That is all the info I have other than a photo of her, my mother and me in 1953.
I can see your last name is the same, so am wondering if you may be related and can offer some help.

Since you have done so much work on this cemetery you might know the answer to my question. Who is buried next to the fence along the driveway that leads down to the lower part of the cemetery. This seems to be the only grave not located in the "main" cemetery portion.

Sorry, I just realized I didn't write for what, can I please post it on ancestry.com?
I was wondering if it would be alright with you if I used your headstone photo of Jose De Souza that you posted, from Saint Josephs Catholic Cemetery

Thank you very much for the Photo. Another question: are you related to Agnes and Manuel DePonte from Maui? The reason that I ask is that My wife's mother is Josephine Rintoul. Josephine's mother was Isabella Lawrence and father William Nawai. Isabella's midwife was Agnes Deponte, if I have my information correct. Hanai'ed family was Antone Kroger andAlice Kroger (No'ono'o). I have been working on Josephine's Ohana on both biological and Hanai.
Just thought that I would add that.
Again many thanks
