So many people have said to me "don't you have better things to do with your time then drag up the past?" I tell all of you now, I do, but I don't.
My father, Duel Glen Going, was only 5 years old when he lost his father, Alonzo Stubblefield Going, to Typhoid. My grandmother, Pearl Cathern Holt-Going Phillips, then took her 4 children and moved to Oklahoma and there was very little contact between her and the "Going" family. Therefore, I never knew this family and very little was ever spoken of them.
My feelings are, in each family, someone is called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again. To tell the family story and feel that somehow the "old ones" know and approve. To me, doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all who have gone before me.
I feel I am the story teller of the "GOING"(plus many more surnames)tribe. I feel I have been called as if it were by my genes. Those who have gone before me cry out to me: "Tell our story." So, I'm trying. In finding them, I somehow find myself.
For me, it started on a beautiful November day in the 1980's. I stood in front of my Grandfather Alonzo Going's grave in the Masonic Cemetery, Pocahontas, Randolph County, Arkansas, and asked him, and all the other family gravestones around him, "Who were you? Where did you come from? Why didn't I get to know you?" With tears streaming down both of my eyes, I looked up into a cloudless sky of blue and vowed, at that very moment in time, I would not stop until those questions were answered.
If you have time to visit one of my family members, it would be greatly appreciated.

Just a gentle reminder of deleting one of 2 identical photos of Dewayne. I have a photo to add of his name on the Vietnam Wall. Cant add it because have reached the limit of allowed photos.
Thanks, Sue Rice

Could you please transfer the memorial that you made for Troy Partian. I added his photos and the bio you used and I would like to be able to update our family and plot info. Thank you!

I found 2 photos the same on Edgar's memorial. Can you remove one so I can add a photo of the Vietnam Wall with his name on it? #19384700, you will also see a photo we took 2 years ago, My husband Mike Rice, was also in Vietnam and was honored by escorting his cousin home after he got killed. Tragic circumstances.
Hope you are well, and I still enjoy seeing your genealogy progress.

|Mike Pippin||Virgie nee Carson Fagan|
I am sending this to let you and the world know of some info I have discovered. Virgie Fagan's headstone gives her dod as Oct. 28, 1916 and from what I can tell anyone who has her within their trees has this date. Recently I found her Mo. death certificate under the name Virgie Phagan and it has the year as 1915. I also found her obit in Doniphan's Prospect-News in November 1915. So it seems her headstone is wrong.
Also this website has her daughter as May Fagan, born and died in May of 1916. If true, then she couldn't be Virgie's daughter. However, looking at the photo in her listing it looks like the headstone gives dod as 1912 or possibly 1913.
If you should look into this please relay your findings back to me.

I noticed there is a headstone for John Penn Sanders in Arkansas shown on Find-a-Grave which indicates there is no stone which is correct. This is my husband's Great Grandfather. When I showed him the picture he wanted me to ask if this is just for showing on the web-site or is there an actual stone in the Cemetary now with this information.
He is wanting to locate where John Penn is buried. (He also has family with the last name of Cox.)
In addition, I want to thank you for all you do with Find-a-Grave. We are still trying to find out what happened to my husband's Great-Great Grandfather, Jeremiah (John Penn's father) He seems to have disappeared after the 1880 census.
