|I have long, long connections with Wilkes County, NC. I grew up in upper Virginia, the D.C. area to be exact, and would visit here from time to time with my dad, who was born in Wilkes County. In 1967, we moved to CA and I married in 1970 and moved to Oregon where I lived until 2000. At that time, I moved back to CA to help with my parents. Each year, we would visit during late September/early October for family reunions and about two years ago, daddy and mother were getting tired of things in CA in the Bay Area and started thinking about moving. We looked at property in Wilkes County and last September found the home we now live in. We moved from CA to "home" and the moving van pulled up on Dec. 26 of 2007 and in we moved! We are glad to be home among family and friends and while I have never lived here before, it feels like home since my roots go back to the 1770's here and I feel like I know all there is to know about Wilkes (which, I'm sure, is not true!) But, here I am and since I am caregiver for my 90-year old dad and 85-year old mother, (who has since passed away on June 11 2009), I don't work and have some free time on my hands. I am going to attempt to photograph Wilkes County cemeteries over time and since findagrave was so helpful to me, I am happy to be able to add to the lists. I am willing to help with questions and answers about Wilkes cemeteries and history, but cannot guarantee I will do it in "your time". lol I love this website and appreciate all the great contributors.|

Yes, that is OK. Whoever knows the physical address or exact location of the this cemetery may contact me.
|Dorothy Hinkey||Parsons Family Cemetery|
Do you have the physical address for the Parsons Family Cemetery at Millers Creek?
I seldom see physical addresses for some of these cemeteries, and how does one visit a grave if they don't know where to go?
Thanks so much for the transfer it is really appreciated.

Thanks for the mail Chris. I understand the stress of taking care of a family member. Hope your father's condition improves. Miss you.
|Stanley Baker||Your Email address does not work|
I tried several times to send you email and the address that you show does not work. You need to update your profile address, or send me a private message.

Gideon W. South Memorial #64359917 should read:

His parents were: Somery South(born in North Carolina) and Catherine Nonkens (born in Virginia)

I have suggested an edit based on records passed to me by my Papa, Mack Ford. They are transcripts recorded and copied from records kept by Millard Adams, most likely a relative of Wiley Adams.
John Foards child died April 30, 1913 (Floyd)
This is exactly how it appeared in the book, with the name in parenthesis.

I am afraid we have both posted entries to the wrong Lyons family cemetery. This one is in Ronda and only has a couple legible stones. The one with Thomas Morgan Lyons is actually in Austin, on private property off Cook-Lyon Rd. I have been there a couple of times, as I have relatives there also.

Thank you. I have been away from this site for some time. I rarely used the email associated with this site. I do hope to spend a little more time with this now, but I am also waiting to get a functional laptop from which I can upload and download to sites like this. In the meantime, I plan to do a little more research on the few names in this cemetery.
