RE: Herman Goebel
Susann, when I was in Edinburough, I believe found her information. I am not 100% sure but 90% this is her. Her full name was Mary-Dora MacDonell (MacDonald) b. Oct 8th, 1864, Father E. Ronald MacDonell, Alorar Invernophin Advocate? mother Catherine MacDonell (No maiden name).

I will soon check London too, just to make sure.

Is there a way that my brother's memorial can be linked to my grandparents' memorials?

Ham/Emmons - Woodlawn Cemetery
Susann,
You have documented many Ham/Emmons family in Woodlawn Cemetery in Houston, Texas. I am the grandson of Angus M. Ham & Evelyn Emmons Ham. I am trying to put a few pieces of the family tree together - ironically to clear up the ownership of several internment spaces at Woodlawn Cemetery; in particular, the children of John W. & Dorothy Emmons. Maybe you can help me.
Best regards,
Troy

RE: Grave photo for Steve James
Do you mind if I use your photo for my family tree on ancestry?

RE: Grave photo for Steve James
Thank you for letting me know. She died in 1927, so quite a while before Steve, who died in 1980. It is very possible she did not have a marker. I just thought I would ask, since you added a photo for her husband. Her death certificate shows that she is buried in Forest Park Cemetery.

Thanks,
Velma

Grave photo for Steve James
Thank you for adding the photo to Steve James memorial page. Did you see a grave for his wife, Pearl James, when you were at the cemetery (Forest Park Cemetery)?

Thanks again,
Velma

William J. Durant, Pfc.
My uncle was Pfc. Harold W. Hooper. He served with then Private William J. (Jimmie) Durant in Company G. of the 143rd Infantry Regiment from 1940 to the end of 1941.

The served together at Camp Bowie, Texas and during the 1941 Louisiana Maneuvers. My uncle mentions "Durant" a number of times in a field journal he kept during the maneuvers.

His name appears in another journal entry dated 28 January 1944 - the entry begins "Jimmie DuRant and Lt. Waskow are dead." Apparently, the day he learned Jimmy had been KIA in Italy.

My uncle Harold would himself be killed in action in Holland, 2 November 1944. His remains, like Pfc. Durant, would also be returned to Houston for burial - April 1948.

Interesting how they both came full circle back to Houston.
