I have been a resident of Virginia since 1985, most of that time in Richmond. I serve on the Board of the "Friends of Shockoe Hill Cemetery", and am a past Commander-in-Chief of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States (MOLLUS), the oldest Civil War descendants' organization.
I am happy to make corrections and additions as needed.
Lucy Coleman Slaughter Williams Hello I am writing you to let you know you opened a memorial page for Lucy Coleman Slaughter in 2014 which there is a page for this person opened in 2008 #27417431. It might be wise to contact the person that opened the page first and combine your information. Thanks in advance for your help in clearing up mutable pages. Sherri Patton Cordon
Carl Snowa Thanks for the reply and I apologize for the brevity...I was working at a library computer and we get automatically kicked off 15 mins before closing time.
Guess that's why she divorced him even though she spoke fondly of him decades later as "my Mr. Snow".
I have other information on Snowa families that I can email to you if you are interested. Are you related? I collected it while looking for grandma's Snowa. I am not otherwise related to him. Then when I found him I didn't know where he was buried to add the info so I was happy to see your edit. That solved the mystery.
MOLLUS ~ removals to Richmod National? Hello Mr. Burden. I have a question for you, simply historical interest. On you memorial for Jules Camp is a quote "all of the remains were moved to Richmond National Cemetery in 1866-67" and I'd like to know the citation? (I wasn't aware of this removal from Shockoe Hill, and there's no attest on the plaque your order posted, or in the historical accounts of Richmond National that I'm aware of.) I read your profile, I'm thinking you'd know. Thanks for your guidance. Rich.
RE: Corp. Robert Kittsmiller Thank you for letting me know. I've asked someone I know in Logan if she can look for an obituary for Eliza James b. 1803 VA, who d. in Logan, Hocking Co., OH in 1890. I found exactly when she passed away at FamilySearch.org. I'm pretty sure she was buried in either the Old Logan Cemetery with her daughter and Robert Kittsmiller or across the street in the newer Oak Grove Cemetery with a grandson and other Kittsmillers, although I do find sometimes that someone was buried someplace unexpected. Sharon
RE: Corp. Robert Kittsmiller According to an 1880 OH census for the Kittsmiller family, his mother-in-law was Eliza James from VA and living with them. You have lots of James memorials. Do you have a James branch that might be connected with this family? Sharon
John W. Martin Memorial #156009951 I visited the Village Office of Dorchester and they have no record of John W. Martin being buried there. The cemetery has always been managed by the Village Office and their records are very organized and detailed. There was a plot of 4 bought by a Martha J. Martin, Valentine Hagler and Lucinda Hagler are the only people buried there. Sorry, Linda
