Bio and Links
Bio Photo For as long as I can remember my family has routinely visited our local cemetery. Young and old attend to the graves of our ancestors and reflect on those various individuals that have touched our lives. It seems to be a way for the adults to keep those departed individuals fresh in their memories and serves as an opportunity to pass on family history to younger family members. In our case, the cemetery is a very park like setting, located on a lake shore, and is a very pleasant place to visit.

Over the years I have found that cemeteries are an excellent place to take break as I travel. It's a chance to get out of the vehicle for a while, take a walk in a quiet setting, and to learn a little about the local area. Now, as I make these stops, I try to take random photos of headstones that provide a cross-section of those who are laid to rest there.

It is my hope that the photos and information posted to Find-A-Grave will be of interest to individuals who are working to document local or family histories. Please feel free to contact me if you spot any errors in my postings or if you have photos or information you would like me to add

Colonial Park Cemetery
Hello
Below is a link to your photo: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=pis&PIcrid=33357&PIpi=2846094&PIMode=cemetery

The photo is of Colonial Park Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia. I was wondering if you know or remember the names on these stones? I am searching for Mc/MacDonnel & Pelot surnames and believe my ancestors are buried here in a plot known as the Pelot corner. Death dates are pre-1868.
Thanks,
Mary

Elias Mittelstadt Grave
Hello,
I am researching the Mittelstadt line. Are you sure about the birthday on Elias Mittelstadt's grave? I have him born in 1878.

Maguire in Hillside, Silverton, CO
Hello, again:

I see you also have:
Thomas F. Maguire, 19592885,
William E. Maguire: 19592897
William (Billy) Maguire: 19548085

Thomas Francis and William Edward are the sons of Mary Francis Loftus Maguire and her husband Michael J. Maguire. William (Billy) Maguire is Mary and Mike's grandson. Mary Francis is the daughter of Thomas L. Loftus, buried in Greenmount Cemetery, Durango. Her mother was Mary Higgens who died in England shortly after Mary's birth in 1864.

Anyway, if these folks are not related to you, could you transfer them to me as well as William Joseph Loftus, Mary Francis' half-brother? I would really appreciate it. The Loftuses & the Maguires are my late husband's ancestor's.

My number is 47418152.

Thank you so much.

William Loftus #13609866
Hello John:
I am wondering if you would transfer William Loftus to me,#47418152? William is the son of Thomas and Bridgete, who are buried on either side of him. Thomas and Bridgete are my sons great-great grandparents and I would like to link William to them.

Appreciate it very much,
Ruby D. Loftus-Scully

Thanks for taking the wonderful photo of His headstone. Although this is now just a formality - as your memorial is available on Ancestry.com, I still want to comply with our Find a Grave rules and request your permission to use your photo of his headstone on my family tree. Too many people take the photo's without asking. I always give credit to Find a Grave and to the headstone photographer. Thanks again for volunteering your time, money and effort.
