Joel Day @ Oak Hill Cem. Ken: We have not messaged for a while. In the process of digging out all graves in Section One and photographing them. I found ground markers for Joel, Hattie and Bernard Day. I had map in hand and when I dug out Joel Nelson and Hattie Fried it made no sense to me until I got home and realized they were Day's. The two middle names looked so like last names. I think we had talked about a marker for Joel a long time ago and I was not able to locate it. All 3 uploaded to Find A Grave. Glad to have found them. Original Addition is completed and photographed and about 1/2 done with First Addition. Thanks Rachel
Maria Rohner I went up there to look. I know exactly where the plot is. There is no stone there. However, just a few feet away, there is a small stone laying flat. I think I see "Maria" but the last name is very hard to read. It doesn't look like Rohner though. I would like to dig the stone out and look at the back side sometime and brush the dirt off better and wash it with some water. It is too hot today, 90 degrees.
Thank you, I have posted the grave stone photo. I just finished photographing the entire cemetery this AM. I did not find Maria Anna Rohner. There are some hard to read stones, unmarked iron crosses and unmarked graves just like in most cemeteries. I do have a copy of the church records and she is listed, by the way that is sad to see such a pretty girl that died that young.
I will ask the church admin assistant if she can tell me the exact plot and I will look for her.
Anna Ballard Day Ken: We emailed about the possibility that Anna Ballard Day second wife of Joel might be buried next to him..I have checked all the cemetery records and she is not listed in this plot nor under the name Day..Sorry Rachel
