Dear Valerie, the wee boy was killed in
Grove Road cemetery,not the same one Michal rests in I remember it well. Both cemeteries are in Harrogate.
I have always going round cemeteries and reading the gravestones. I went round Highgate cemetery in London, it was very spooky.
I've been round Westminster Abbey,it was fascinating. I am Scottish and I wanted to see where Mary, Queen of Scots was laid. | | | Ann Comerford

Hello there Valerie, nice to hear from you.
The wee boy that was killed when a gravestone fell on him wasn't at this cemetery, it was in fact Grove Road cemetery. It doesn't really matter, he's still dead.
I have always liked going round cemeteries, reading the stones and learning some history. For instance when I see a stone with lots of children's' names on it, I can usually pinpoint the date before reading it. It will usually be disease, ie TB (consumption) or Flu (influenza).
I've been round Highgate, London but I would really like to go round the American ones where the stars are buried. It's rally fascinating finding where the stars are.

It is sweet of you to share your private photos and personal experiences of Michael Rennie. It makes me think all the more, what a great loss it was that Michael died so young, because, gosh, I am now just a year younger than the age he was when he died! I wish we could have had many more years of his acting.
Michael Rennie was my favorite actor when I was a child and teenager. I believe I first noticed Michael Rennie on TV because he reminded me of my grandfather. My grandparents came to Connecticut from Beith, Ayrshire, Scotland in 1913 and I lived with them for most of the first three years of my life, 1948 -1950, before my father remarried and I went to live with him and my stepmom. Being somewhat a loner and a dreamer as a child, perhaps movies and TV shaped my views of the world to a great extent. I think it also prepared me for the career switch I am planning now, into fiction writing. I read a lot and wrote a lot, creating fantasy worlds as a child, but never followed up on that until now. I didn't think that creating stories in my head was very useful back then – it was just a way to make time pass.
In my adult years of career building and raising a child, I must admit that Michael Rennie faded from my consciousness. It is only now that I am nearing retirement from the computer world and have more free time with my daughter off on her own, that I have been revisiting Michael Rennie's work that has become available on VHS and DVD. His work stimulates my own meager creative leanings, as I start to write again and begin to plan to write full time on my pension in about four years from now.
Rewatching Michael's work from the viewpoint of a lifetime of experience makes me realize that my child-self had better taste than I thought she had! It brings on such nostalgia and I realize what a deep effect Michael Rennie had on my life through his art, though I never knew him personally.
As I scanned the messages on the Find the Grave site, I found that I am far from the only person who remembers Michael Rennie - though most of my friends barely remember who he was. Perhaps it is the actor inspiring the writer? I owe Michael Rennie a great deal, whether I eventually succeed in my writing and get published, or whether my writing ends up being only for my own pleasure, being read only by a few friends and family.
Your notes and photos make me realize there was a gentle, kind, and perhaps somewhat shy? person behind the artist that was Michael Rennie. And that makes me all the more sad that we lost him so soon.

I didn't know him but I feel he is not given the credit he deserves. Such a voice. You were very fortunate to know him. He died when I was young, too young to write a fan letter, but what a thrill if he answered! I own The Day the Earth Stood Still and the Lost In Space episodes he appeared in. I've also seen him in Desiree.
