Bio and Links
Bio Photo Having more fun walking the older areas of the cemeteries and thinking of the histories.

I have photographed all of Oak Grove and more than half of Lakeside in Pekin, IL. There are alot of missing headstones and quite a bit that are unreadable. Getting what I can before they are gone.

I will transfer ONLY within Find A Grave's guidelines. Though happy to add any information you have to the memorials. This is a memorial site, not a family genealogy site.

I also have spent many an hour walking the cemeteries and transcribing headstones that are hard to read. If you take any of the photos and place them on other sites such as Ancestry, at least make credit back to me. May sound selfish, but giving credit to someone for their work is only correct.

John Wineburner #85169187
John Wineburner who is buried in the Original Section, Row 27, Grave 25 has a death date of June 13, 1903.
While I completely agree that every Veteran should have a tombstone, and we've purchased several for our vets who didn't have one, this is not the John Wineburner to whom you are referring.
Please remove your remarks from his listing.

Linda thanks for the pictures. Just thought i'd let you know I'll be taking over my uncle's memorial.I appreciate the photo of his marker and those of my grandparents. I noticed there wasn't one of my mom but she only has a concrete slab,no name I can't afford a stone. The money I would have used to buy a stone had to go towards paying for the family plot upkeep. Ill new law. I had to pay a $1000 dollars to the cemetery for upkeep before they would bury her, even tho the plots had been paid for ,for years.I'll definitely credit you for the pics. Scheidels in Lakeside Cemetery
There is a Jacob Scheidel in this cemetery whose headstone reads "Brother" and also a Frank with a similar headstone. Are these two headstones together? Are there others near by? If you get a chance to go back to that cemetery could you check? No hurry. Thanks.

Be again Linda

I've found Mary has 3 spouses: Elzie; William Willett; & James Hartness.
Hartness is on a 1900 Marshall co.,Iowa census, with the boys listed as step sons, also a dau Jessie then 13.
She is on a 1829 & 1839 as Willett & widowed, for Pekin in 2 different wards. With George C living with her.
So she had 3 spouses!

Re @70477913
It is a little complicated, but here goes: we are related thusly:
she is
mother-in-law of niece & also stepdaughter of my great grandmother Henrietta BAUGH Kiphart Morton (John W) Stephens.
Joohn mar Henrietta's sister when she refused him to marry Kiphart. As a 2 time widow, he left her sister, Lydia Ann "Annie" BAUGH & their kids, to marry Henrietta! They were happy for 38 years, then she passed.
I lost Annie & only recently found her in Peoria area, where our maternal grandparents were (WOOD, ELLIOTT, CURL).
So I'm kinda glad to find everyone!
And I am searching for both husbands this week.

Hi Linda,

I've done it. I believe I put both in last box, try it.

Re FAG # 70477913
I gave the surname of her husband, father of her children through the EDIT...but it was DECLINED?

I admit I do not understand why this would be so?

I've been working the family, a collateral line, & at this writing am still trying to locate his burial coordinates.
