Bio and Links
Bio Photo My home town is Westport, Co Mayo, Ireland.
I joined FAG while researching my Ancestors who emigrated to Chicago.

I have realised my dream - travelled to Chicago and visited 3 of the graveyards where my Ancestors are buried.

Most of my Memorials/Cemeteries are in Ireland. If you find a relative and wish to add/change information, please feel free to contact me.

Most of my Memorials have Graveshots. I flower all my Memorials and link them with relative's. Ones that may not have Graveshots are my own relatives where I have not located their resting spot, although I know the Cemetery.

I am happy to transfer Memorials to Family Members, however my photographs are copyright and I would like to be notified should anyone require a copy of same.

Thank You to Jim and Tammy who have helped me find the resting place of my Lavelle Family in NY.

In the early part of 2012 I set up the Mayo Genealogy Group in Castlebar, we have monthly meetings in the National Museum of Country Life, Turlough.
We have set up a Facebook Page, if you would like to join and post queries about your Mayo Ancestors check out our page.

Hi Dympna,

What part of Ireland are you in? My maternal great grandparents were Hartnetts from County Cork. Ireland's such a beautiful country.

Take care,

Cyn

RE: Re: Owen Foy, Straide Abbey
While I am related to many of the Foy's in the Strade area, I'm not sure how this Owen Foy fits in my family tree. I found in one of the records that his father's name was James Foy and that he died of an illness in Tipperary, Ireland (probably an army hospital. I THINK he might be the son of James and Sarah Murray Foy, and I find them in the 1901 & 1911 census in Tonagh Beg, Strade, Mayo, Ireland. However, the young man with I think is this Owen Foy is in a school in Castlebar in 1901, and working as a servant in Tonagh Beg, Strade in 1911 (which is why I think he was from that Foy family), so I can't be sure.

I'll wait on taking ownership of this as he may not be in my family. Thanks so much for putting the picture up. I am related to the James Foy and the Edward Dillon graves that are just to the north of Owen Foy's. The Edward Dillon marker fell on it's face since I got a picture in 1984, so I added that the findagrave link. James Foy's family still lives in the area an maintains his grave.

Bridget Moran
I have a question about Bridget Moran who died in 1964 and was buried in Cong Abbey in County Mayo. Do you know if she was a sister to Catherine Jane (Walsh)Crosby, who was born in 1866 in Swinford, County Mayo, and moved to Springfield, Illinois, USA? Catherine is my great-great grandmother and I have been looking for her Irish ancestors and hoping that I can find relatives to connect with. I would appreciate any help that you could give me.

Walsh/Ainsworth Castlebar
Hi. Thank you very much for taking the lovely photos of the grave of the late Jude Walsh. He was a second cousin to my mother. I did not realise his wife Mary had passed away nor was I aware that he was interred in his in-laws plot, the Ainsworths. They must all be buried in the one grave. I have now created memorials here on Find a Grave for his late wife Mary Ainsworth Walsh and her parents the late Thomas Ainsworth and Julia Ainsworth. I wonder could you attach the same photos of the grave to their memoorials? If it would suit I could do it myself but wanted to ask you first. Thanks again. Dónal
