I have been an avid genealogist in Perry Co. for over 35 years. I have researched my family in Letcher, Perry, Breathitt, Magoffin, Morgan, Leslie, Clay, Lee and Owsley counties. I have research on the Campbell, Couch, Dixon, Combs, Cornett, Feltner, Williams, Whitely, Haney, Gullet and others that came into my family as I researched. I became a member of FAG while trying to find my grandfather's lost grave in Magoffin Co. My husband and I started taking pictures of the cemeteries in Perry Co. to help people find their lost loved ones. We are attempting to photograph the cemeteries in Perry county. I will do transfers within the four Generation FAG guideline that include: Spouses, Parents, Brothers and Sisters, Children, Grand-children, Grandparents and great grandparents. Sorry, no transfers to aunts, uncles or cousins. I try to be accommodating but I will not tolerate rudeness. If any of my memorials need to be edited, please contact me using the edit button. Also I will try to help if you are having trouble research your family members. Thanks|

John's mother is listed as Lucilie McKnight. Do you know if his mother was also known as Selah and or Cela ? A John Dixon is found in the 1880 census of Perry County in the household of John and Lidda Bowling McKnight. Cela is identified as John's sister.
I believe John and Cela are the children of William and Jane Creech McKnight. John was killed during the French and Eversole Feud in Hazard.
John and Lidda had two children Chester Arthur McKnight and Nannie McKnight.
Chester Arthur, Nannie and John dixon are all found on the same page of the 1900 census in Leslie County. The McKnight name is spelled Micnite in that census report.

Thank you for finding Brads death certificate. It confirms he WAS my grandfather's friend in the mines that he saw die. I'm glad to know where he is buried and that he has a stone and will be remembered. Thank you so much. Wonder if you are related to him? His kin should know that my grandpaw Odus thought he was a great guy and a great friend. Thanks again. S. Wheatley. Bluemoon2256@aol.com

It happens as generations pass for various reasons. Sometimes because they want to disassociate themselves. I had a great-great grandfather who was the only one who kept the 'e' on Daye. Thank you for responding =)

Hello. I'm S. Wheatley. Find A Grave member 47724840. I think your memorial 9295050899 for Brad Banks is for my grandfather's best friend. My grandfather was Odus Amburgey. He worked in a mine with a Brad Banks. There is only 3 Brad Banks on Find A Grave and yours sounds like the right age and area of burial. Do you have access to Brads death certificate? If so, does it say he died in a coal mine accident? If so, your Brad Banks was my grandfather's best friend. They worked together in a mine. Back then the coal crusher machine was a dangerous job. A man loaded it and another man hit a switch to make the machine come down and crush the coal. Brad loaded the machine and the man flipped the switch too soon and it came down on Brads head. My grandfather was the next man on the line & saw it. He gathered Brad remains. He told me this story many times & grieved for his best friend Brad. Wondered if you or Brads decendents would like to know what happened to Brad. If your Brad is the same one. I send this info in honor of my grandfather Odus Amburgey to honor his best friend. S. Thanks so much for finding my grandfather's grave site. You are such a blessing and are wonderful at what you do. The birth date I had listed was taken from his death record. I couldn't find a birth certificate for him. I am an amateur at this and decided to do a 14 day free trial through Ancestry but am not real impressed with their site. I'm thinking that I will leave in the morning and head for Hazard unless something else would come up between now and then. I would really appreciate the photos you've taken. I'm not sure how to use the GPS coordinates. I put them in my phone and it said that couldn't find place? Once I arrive in Hazard, is there a way that I can contact you? Also, can you recommend a good hotel around there? I will transfer all the photos, ect. from my memorial over to your original memorial. Thanks again.
