I am a serious student of film , television, and entertainment history. At the same time, I really don't take anything too seriously.
I'm a long-time resident of South Carolina
(The Land That Time Forgot).
Most of what I've learned in life -- I got from The Three Stooges.

Ted Healy's Death
Officially the coroner said Healy died from the result of illness (pneumonia) due to his alcoholic state. His family never accepted this, nor has most of the public. It appears that the L. A. police (who were notoriously corrupt when it came to the studios) killed any real investigation of Healy's demise. And the reason may not have been due to a story about college kids beating him to death (although that sounds plausible). Rather a second version suggested that Healy got into an argument with a well known Hollywood star (an Oscar winner) who was not known for being a nice guy. This individual was in the bar with some friends, of whom at least one had underworld ties, and they beat up Healy outside the bar. Further details can be found in the Wikipedia article on Healy. The creep (he is a creep even if he did not do this to Healy) was Wallace Beery.

FDR
You expressed it so beautifully.

He was a truly great president...and his wife was a marvelous woman, and a hero of mine since childhood.
