Bio and Links
Bio Photo I'm a native of Utah now living in Raleigh, NC. I'm a genealogist and all around history buff.

Please let me know if you find errors in my memorials so that I may correct them. Also please feel free to use any photo's I post as long as it's not for profit(if photo's are used "courtesy" of someone, please note that if you repost them).

I am working on uploading the Price City Cemetery database (Price, UT is my hometown). My goal is to eventually research each burial, post obituary's and link to family members where possible. Besides all my family members this cemetery is the resting place for many friends, and people I knew or knew of, and so is very special to me. As of 7/14/12 THE DATABASE IS COMPLETELY ENTERED FOR BURIALS PRIOR TO AUGUST 2010. Please be careful posting a new memorial in Price City Cemetery with a death date prior to August 2010, as it will likely be a duplication. Sometimes the burial is recorded under a different married name, or a different spelling. There are instances of burials NOT being recorded in the cemetery records (likely one of the "unknowns" listed in the database), however, those are the exception. Only a portion of those I've entered have been researched and completed, but I'm working on it :)

I'm also a contributing Editor for the "Greeks in the West" tree on We are attempting to document the Greek immigrants who came to the Western states for the Western Hellenic Family History Library at The Magna Ethnic Mining Museum

If I have posted a memorial for your loved one, please let me know so that I can transfer them to you if they are not a relation of mine. However, due to numerous problems with transfer requests, I have had to adopt the practise of only transfering per Find a Grave's "direct 4 generation rule". I am happy to transfer your immediate family (spouse, children, grandchild, parents, siblings, or grandparents). I will no longer transfer outside of these relationships. Please use the "edit" function on the memorial you are requesting; state your relationship; and include your contributor #.

I am always happy to add or correct information, add links or update information.

Charmayne Clingman
Thanks so much for the information on Charmayne. I contacted Ryan to see if he will move his memorial over to Helper City, then I will delete mine. I noticed you are attaching her father's link but if he will move Charmayne's memorial to Helper City, then he already has her father's link attached. Just need to attach her mother's link but hopefully he'll see that and add that as well. Thanks again.

Hello, Lucia,

Betty's father's eldest sister, Elizabeth Reese (b. 1868, Wales; d. 1936, Nanticoke, PA -- Find A Grave Memorial# 29629310) was the wife of William G. Jones. This might be a source of the error in Betty's obituary.

Hello again, Lucia,

From what I've been reading in the newspapers (uh-oh!), it appears that Betty was quite involved in civic activities in PA -- President of the "Tween Club" (whatever that was), the Girl Scouts, the Junior Women's Club, the Red Cross....

Also, in the brief announcement of the birth of her son, it is stated, "Mrs. Ishley is the former Betty Reese, daughter of Mrs. David J. Reese, Vine Street." {The Wilkes-Barre Times Lsader, Evening News, Fri. Aug 6, 1948)

Okay, then....

Hi, Lucia,

Betty's father's obituary in the 30 Nov 1934 Evening News, Wilkes-Barre, PA, lists Betty as one of his eight surviving children. His oldest daughter, Ruth, was Mrs. Lewis Phillips.

Find A Grave Memorial# 152129531 is the one for Betty's father. The page indicates his wife as Elizabeth Jane Reese. (The associated photo is a death/funeral notice, not the aforementioned obit.)

It's amazing what you can find when you try hard enough!

Hello, Lucia,

The 1940 census for Plymouth, Luzerne Co., PA, lists Betty Reese and three of her siblings (Helen, Daniel, and David) in the household of their mother Elizabeth, widow of David John Reese, Sr.

I haven't yet found any evidence of her in the 1930 records.

However, there is a PA death certificate showing Gabriel and Betty as the parents of a daughter, Gail Beth Ishley, who died at Nesbitt Hospital, Kingston, PA, at the age of 3 months and 4 days (DOB 1 Oct 1946, DOD 5 Jan 1947) and was buried in Fern Knoll Cemetery, Dallas, PA, on 7 Jan 1947.

(Betty was an aunt of my older brother's first wife.)

Hello, Lucia,

Thanks so much for such a speedy correction !

Closer scrutiny of Betty's obituary brings to light also this anomaly : Her parents were David John Reese, Sr., and his wife Elizabeth Jane (Evans) Reese....

Demonstrating once again that "you can't always believe what you read in the newspapers!"

Lucia, it appears that the first name is Goldie. I checked with Carbon School district and they have nothing but suggested we try a Google search. Went to the cemetery office and they show the name as Goldie.

Hi Lucia,

I know that you were not criticizing me, and I really appreciate everything that you've accomplished and your professionalism too. You are right again, we should try to make the memorials look great. A little extra effort sure makes a difference.

Thanks again, Richard
