Born and raised in the (Rye Beat Area) Hamilton, Alabama, State Hwy.17-S, about 1 1/2 miles from these COOPER Cemeteries, located off of Marion County Hwy 22 near Cooper Free Will Baptist Church.|
This Cooper Cemetery was originaly called "JOHNSON GRAVEYARD" in memory of the first burial: Jane Johnson who was buried ca. 1877, where she loved to play.
I am Sec/Tres for the Cooper Cemeteries Perpetual Care Fund. I have kept an updated burial list for these cemeteries now for 20 plus years. The list includes name, dates, parents and spouses if known.
The 3rd Sunday in May is the Memorial Day for these Cemeteries.

Concering Links, Corrections and Transfer Request:
Please use the "EDIT" on each memorial that way I have the memorial number and the contributor number, it makes it much easier to update, make links or transfer. For a transfer please state your connection to the memorial.
Please DO NOT leave Family Names and Memorial Numbers with a flower or token, PLEASE edit the memorial and I will be more than glad to make the links, Thanks.
Thanks to those contributors who have left flowers or tokens on my memorials. I enjoy seeing and reading them.
Many "THANKS" to Charlotte Bradley Dupree and NativePride for now helping with Find A Grave Memorials.

I learn something everyday. It was there on the edit page all along. I just never clicked on it.

I did not know of the new edit way. I sent my requests through edits, but I did read someplace they were changing the edits. I need to check it out because I'm keeping you busy connecting my family. (-:
Thanks for all your help,

Hi, I noticed that you declined my edit in regards to James's birthday. I do recognize that on the headstone it clearly states 1886 as the birth year, but according to all my evidence, he was certainly born in 1866. I have him listed in 7 censuses with a birth year close to 1866. Also, his mother would have been 53 by 1886, so I find it highly unlikely that that year could have been accurate. Also, his oldest child is born in 1887, so unless I somehow have the incorrect person, which I highly doubt as everything else correlates, James McMickin's birth year was in fact 1866, despite the writing on the headstone. Please let me know if you have any questions or want to see more evidence.
