Frederick Fisher Link
Thank you for the link for Frederick Fisher and the notes that are there for him. Once you made me aware of Michael Fisher, it was good to add him to my tree. It is nice to know someone who is closer to the main line, than I am as someone whose last Fisher surnamed ancestor was my Great Grandmother who died before my Grandmother even had a chance to grow up, and she was just very young when her Grandpa Fisher died, and she never got to know her Grandmother Fisher. So that kind of leaves a hole in the stream of knowledge that gets passed down. It's nice to keep having it filled in more and more. Thank you.

RE: Hello cousin!
History of Decatur Co. I think it is the 1st edition but not sure. You will find it at Decatur Co Library in both Parsons and Decaturville. I disagree about Michael and Christina being his parents. Jacob had a brother Michael born 1820 buried in Pemiscott Co Mo. Christina would have been past childbearing years. If you are not familiar with David Donahue's work you can find it by Google, Fisher Family of Decatur Co, Tn and same for Yarbro Family of Decatur Co, Tn. I would love to join your group' I live near Scotts Hill Tn.

Jacob F Fisher
Nancy, I have noticed that you have ask some questions about Jacob F Fisher. There is an article about him at libraryin Decatur Co history book that leads me to believe he was the grandson of Michael and Christina Fisher. It says he was the son of Jacob and Sarah Smith Fisher. If you are familiar with David Donahue's research of Fisher Family of Decatur Co you will find Jacob and Sarah in 7a. It would be nice to find the obit this article mentions. My ggrandfather was also John Wesley Fisher but the son of Sylvanous.

RE: cousin! - 5GGF James F Winn
Hi Nancy! Yes we are cousins. I descend from his son Whitehead Washington Winn. Which sibling is your ancestor? Have you taken a DNA test anywhere? Would love to have you in my database of matches and compare where we match on the chromosomes. I tested at ancestry, 23andMe, and FTDNA and uploaded one to Gedmatch.com. I have also tested several other relatives, mostly aunts and uncles on that line as well as one cousin. Thanks for contacting me and I hope to hear more from you.

RE: John Thomas Gooch
John's great-great-granddaughter, Virginia Stafford, was married to my cousin, Stanley Elwood Power. The family link is through the Noah Huss line. I am updating a family history book and including as much information as I can find and also attempting to link the many branches of my tree back to Noah.

The Fishers of Decatur Co., TN
Dear Nancy,
Thank you for all of your information regarding Jacob F. Fisher, etc. I am one of your cousins, also. Jacob F. Fisher is my 3rd Great grandfather; Jacob F.C. Fisher is my 2nd Great grandfather; and his daughter, Sophia Emily Fisher, is my Great grandmother. I am very new to this, and have really learned a lot! Thanks again!

Frederick Fisher
Dear Nancy,
Sorry that I really didn't know about Michael Fisher or the document he signed for his father. So am just now learning about your line. My descent is from Frederick's son Jacob. My last family member with the Fisher surname was my paternal Grandmother's Mother. Unfortunately, she died when my Grandmother was age 12. My Grandmother's Grandfather died at age 60 when she was only 5 years old, and her Grandmother had died quite a few years before she was even born so never knew her. From my Grandmother was able to learn the name of her parents and her grandparents (my great and 2nd great grandparents, but all the generations before that came from library research and information other people passed to me back in the early 1990's. It is good to know about your line now. It is interesting that we are both 5th Great Grandchildren and so close in age. That is something considering that the siblings we descend from were born almost 9 years apart from each other to begin with. Jacob was born 31 Mar 1784 and would have been 6 days shy of being 9 years old when your ancestor Michael was born. Then Michael died in 1833 at age 40, which is relatively young. Jacob lived until age 79 in 1863 when the Civil War was raging. But he is the last of my Fisher surnamed family members who had such longevity. Look forward to learning more about your line, cousin.
