I am a retired career Firefighter from Illinois. My wife and I have also been on a volunteer fire department for years. My mother was interested in genealogy for more than 50 years and infected us with the bug more than 35 years ago. After retiring, my wife and I really began to do in depth genealogy research and enjoy trying to connect all the family information we can get a hold of. We found that Find-A-Grave was a great tool to use to help locate and link information (like trying to put a big jigsaw puzzle together). We really enjoy going to different cemeteries and taking pictures of stones for requestors across the country. It is always quiet and very seldom does anyone talk back to you. |
We have done a lot of work with the cemeteries in Keokuk County, Iowa which is where my parents and several generations of my family came from. We have also started adding names from around our home area in western Illinois.
If we have entered a name of one of your friends or relatives and you wish to add it yourself, please let us know. We don't mean to offend anyone. Please let us know of any errors or corrections.
If you have any questions, E-mail us, but remember to put Find-A-Grave in the subject line.

Ooops! Sorry! Thanks for the heads up. :)
Thank you so much for the photo of the final resting place of Christine and Martin! This puts to rest the question of how to spell their last name. (We were running about 50/50. :)
Would you mind adding the photo to Martin's memorial as well? I'd send an extra photo request, but Findagrave keeps telling me that I'm out of photo requests. :/ I'd do it myself, but don't want to take credit for your photo!
Appreciate your help! :)

You are very welcome indeed. I feel blessed to be able to do this work and will continue as long as I'm able. My husband has cancer and we have so many medical appointments, but I work on it as much as I can. This is such a fantastic site and brings us all closer together. Take care and let me know any time I can help you with transfers.
Have a wonderful week!

I have transferred Frances over into your care. There are 3 other Clores buried there if you want them also, let me know at your convenience.
Thank you for your kind words. I enjoy this work very much and realize the importance of it in reuniting families.
Take care and let me know if you want the other transfers.

Thank you for the acknowledgement and your FindAgrave work. Irene's mother and my father were siblings. --Dudley Swedberg

Sorry for your loss. No problem, whenever a family member wants to post a page I delete mine as I would rather see family have their own pages.

Thanks for your input on Andrew Patterson. Andrew was my Uncle and I knew little about him. I knew his mother and step father very well. I use to mow there grass on a lot they had in New Hope, Lincoln Co., MO. As a teenager I still remember Uncle Andrew coming to visit my grandmother Altha Williams on the farm in Elsberry, MO. He came in his long nose pontiac. It had a straight eight engine and a Indian Head lite up on the hood. That was probably in the early to mid 50's. The Pontiac I believe to be in the late 40's. I'm still trying to find info on his sister Ruby that I believe married a Wood and lived in LA. Thanks again for you input. Bart Williams

Thank you so much for this memorial of Andrew Patterson. I have been searching to him a long time to add him to our family tree on ancestry.com. I remember him visiting us on the farm and driving a big long nose pontiac. I was a late 40's car with a straight eight engine instead of a V8. I live with his aunt on the farm at Elsberry, MO and his mother lived 6 miles from us in New Hope, MO.
I sent a link request for him to his mother Estella Ory.
